You can resize or reposition the on-screen keyboard through Samsung Keyboard’s Size and transparency controls. Go to Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings > Size and transparency, adjust the keyboard, then tap Done. These steps apply to Samsung Keyboard; menu names and available layouts can vary by device and software version.

To reposition the keyboard, use the center arrow control to move it where you want it.

Samsung’s US instructions document these controls, while Samsung Japan also describes resizing from the keyboard’s edges and repositioning it with the center control. The screen may show an adjustable or floating keyboard during the change, and exact interaction details can differ by version or region. Samsung’s keyboard settings instructions and Samsung Japan’s size guidance provide the relevant steps.

Choose a keyboard layout for how you use your Galaxy

Samsung lists Standard, Split, and Floating for tablets, and also describes One-handed mode in its phone guidance. Not every Galaxy device offers every layout. Check which keyboard is active. These instructions are for Samsung Keyboard, not third-party keyboards such as Gboard. A third-party keyboard has its own settings.

Search Settings. Search for “Samsung Keyboard” if the menu is not where expected. You can also open a text field and use the keyboard’s settings gear if it appears.

Check the keyboard toolbar. On supported versions, open the keyboard toolbar’s three-dot More control, then tap Modes. Samsung Philippines also documents Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings > Mode; the toolbar and menu arrangement may differ.

Allow for device differences. Samsung notes that settings and screens can vary by phone or tablet model, carrier, region, and software version. Galaxy tablet users who prefer physical typing
Resizing or moving the on-screen keyboard does not require extra hardware. Samsung says compatible Galaxy Tab Book Cover Keyboards are available for some tablets, but that does not mean every cover works with every model. Check compatibility for your exact tablet before choosing a physical keyboard; Samsung’s tablet keyboard guidance covers the option.
