Sensi recommends a reset when support instructions advise one. If you only need to restart an unresponsive thermostat, try a power cycle instead; it is a different action and does not use the factory-reset controls.
Find your Sensi thermostat model
The reset steps depend on the model. Pull the thermostat cover straight toward you and turn it over to find the model-number sticker on the back. Sensi says the sticker is present on all its models. The label also includes a MAC ID and Sensi Security Code, which may be useful during Wi-Fi setup or an account transfer. See Sensi’s instructions for finding the model number.

Factory-reset the thermostat
Use the instructions for the model shown on the label. Avoid substituting battery removal for a factory reset: the documented factory-reset controls differ between non-touchscreen and touchscreen models.
Sensi Smart
- At the thermostat, press and hold Up, Down, and Fan at the same time.
- Release the buttons when the display flashes and reboots.
Sensi Lite
- Press and hold Up, Down, and the three-dot Menu button together for at least one second.
- Release when the display resets.
Sensi Touch
- Tap Menu.
- Tap About Thermostat.
- Tap Factory Reset.
Sensi Touch 2
- Tap the menu icon.
- Tap About Thermostat.
- Tap Factory Reset.
These are the model-specific steps in Sensi’s reset instructions. The available Touch manual documents that its reset restores settings to defaults except HVAC Equipment settings and clears HomeKit pairing; do not assume the same reset scope for other models. Consult the relevant Sensi thermostat manual for model-specific details.

Sensi Room Sensor
The Room Sensor is a separate device, not a thermostat. Remove its plastic back piece, then press and hold its Reset button for five seconds, following Sensi’s reset instructions.
Reconnect Wi-Fi and allow recalibration
After resetting a thermostat, reconnect it to Wi-Fi using the instructions for that model. Sensi says room-temperature recalibration can take 30–60 minutes after a reset. If Wi-Fi will not reconnect, follow the model-specific steps in the Sensi reset guide.

Try a power cycle if you only need a restart
A power cycle disconnects and restores power; it is not the factory reset described above. Sensi documents these restart steps for an unresponsive thermostat:
Sensi Smart and Sensi Lite
- Remove the thermostat faceplate from the wall.
- Take out the batteries and wait until the display goes blank.
- Reinsert the batteries and reinstall the faceplate.
Sensi Touch and Touch 2
- Remove the thermostat from its sub-base to disconnect power.
- Reinstall it.
If buttons or the touchscreen do not respond, check whether keypad lockout is enabled. See Sensi’s instructions for a display or button problem.

If the reset does not solve the problem
Wi-Fi still will not connect
On Sensi Smart, low battery can interfere with Wi-Fi. Sensi specifies two fresh AA alkaline batteries for that model. For Sensi Lite, it specifies two fresh AAA alkaline batteries. These recommendations apply to those battery-powered models, not every Sensi thermostat. See Sensi’s no-Wi-Fi-icon troubleshooting steps.
Heating or cooling still does not run
A reset cannot correct a power, wiring, HVAC, or low-battery fault. Check that HVAC power is on, and verify the wiring and system configuration. If the equipment itself may need service, contact an HVAC professional; Sensi recommends professional help when troubleshooting indicates an equipment issue.
