There is no single reset sequence for every Samsung soundbar or speaker. Find the full model code on the device’s rear label, then use the reset instructions for that exact model and region. Many newer soundbars reset with their onboard + and – buttons; older series may require a remote or a different power state.
Find your Samsung model before you reset it
Check the type label on the rear of the soundbar for its full model code. Samsung’s instructions vary by model, software and region, so do not assume that a procedure for one soundbar also applies to a differently named speaker or Music Frame. Use the model code to find the correct manual or support page on Samsung’s reset guide or your local Samsung support site.

Reset a Samsung soundbar
Follow the procedure listed for your exact model. These examples show why checking the model matters; they are not universal instructions.
Newer HW-Q***D, HW-S***D and HW-LS60D examples
Samsung Singapore’s instructions say to turn on an HW-Q***D soundbar, then hold Volume – and + together for more than five seconds. Wait for “INIT” to appear and for the reset to finish. For HW-S***D and HW-LS60D models, the same buttons are used, but completion is indicated by a sequence of lights: white moving from left to right and back, three cyan flashes, then red blinking before the lights turn off. 2023 C-series and 2022 B-series examples
Samsung’s Germany guide says to turn on many C-series (2023) and B-series (2022) soundbars and hold the onboard + and – buttons for a few seconds. The completion indication varies by model and may include “INIT” or “INIT OK,” a cyan LED sequence, or another status indication. Check the model-specific entry rather than relying on one signal for the entire series.
Older series
Reset controls and power state vary across older models. Samsung’s Germany guide covers examples from the A-series (2021), T-series (2020), R-, N-, M-, K-, J- and H-series (2019–2014), and F-series (2013). Depending on the model, the procedure may use onboard + and – buttons or remote-control buttons such as Settings, Play/Pause, Return or Stop; some require the soundbar to be on, while others require standby. For example, the guide’s F-series procedure uses Stop on the remote while the soundbar is in standby. These are model-family examples, not substitutes for the full model’s instructions.

What a factory reset changes
A factory reset returns the soundbar’s settings to their defaults. Expect to set it up again and restore settings or connections as needed. Samsung’s general warning does not establish that a reset deletes a specific category of cloud data or changes your Samsung account, so do not assume either outcome without checking the documentation for your model.
Try the right troubleshooting step before a factory reset
A reset is not the first fix for every symptom. Match the action to the problem:

Samsung Sound app compatibility changes over time. Samsung’s US registration page says it supports 2026 products and HW-LS60D, while support for older 2023–2025 soundbars was planned for future updates. Check the current Samsung registration guidance for the latest supported models.
If your Samsung soundbar has no sound
Check the signal path before resetting. Samsung’s US troubleshooting guidance recommends confirming that connected devices are powered on, the soundbar is set to the correct source, cables are connected properly, and the TV is set to output audio to external speakers when applicable. The exact checks depend on how the TV and soundbar are connected. See Samsung’s no-sound troubleshooting page for connection-specific steps.

If your Samsung soundbar will not pair over Bluetooth
Put both the soundbar and the phone, tablet or TV into pairing mode. Check that the devices are compatible, check for available soundbar firmware, and try pairing with another device to find out which side may be causing the problem. If no Bluetooth device can pair with the soundbar, Samsung recommends requesting service. See Samsung’s Bluetooth pairing guidance.

Update firmware only when the model supports it
Firmware updating is a separate troubleshooting option, not a required step before every reset. Samsung US documents SmartThings and USB update methods, but not all models support Wi-Fi or SmartThings updates. Get firmware and model-specific instructions from the soundbar’s Samsung support page; do not treat a USB drive as a factory-reset tool. See Samsung’s soundbar firmware instructions.
