Inspect the bucket and dispenser
If the dispenser is the problem, check the ice bucket and actuator rod. Samsung says that if the dispenser flap does not open and close when you move the actuator rod, the bucket may need replacement. Consider the water filter if ice or water tastes or smells bad
Samsung recommends replacing the water filter when ice or water begins to taste or smell bad. That symptom points to a filter check, not proof that the ice-maker assembly needs replacement.

Find the refrigerator’s full model number before shopping. Samsung’s parts listings include multiple ice-maker assemblies, including DA97-series part numbers; “Samsung refrigerator” alone is not enough to identify a compatible part. Use repair instructions for your exact refrigerator model
Samsung provides product-specific manuals and repair guides through its model support pages. Find your exact refrigerator model on Samsung’s model support site and consult the documentation that applies to it. Because access, disconnection, and installation can depend on the model and ice-maker location, do not rely on a generic sequence for removing fasteners, handling wiring or water lines, or selecting tools. Follow the applicable service documentation.
