Double-click the name on the sheet tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Type the new name, then press Enter.
Add a sheet
Click the plus button beside the sheet tabs to insert a new sheet. Google also lists Ctrl+T and Shift+F11 as shortcuts for inserting a new sheet; shortcut behavior can vary with keyboard or language settings, so the plus button is the simplest option if a shortcut does not work. Hide or unhide a sheet

Click the sheet’s tab, then click its down-arrow menu.

Choose Hide sheet.
To show it again, choose View > Show, then select the sheet’s name. Google says the hide option is unavailable when a spreadsheet has fewer than two sheets. For the computer instructions, see Google’s help for protecting, hiding, and editing sheets.
Use the Google Sheets app on Android
Rename a sheet

Open the sheet tab’s down-arrow menu.

Tap Rename, enter the new name, and confirm.
Hide or unhide a sheet
Open the tab’s down-arrow menu and tap Hide. The option is not available if the spreadsheet has fewer than two sheets. To unhide a sheet, open the menu at the lower left and tap the hidden sheet’s name. See Google’s Android instructions.

Use Google Sheets on iPhone or iPad
To rename a sheet, open the sheet tab’s down-arrow menu, tap Rename, and enter the new name. Google’s iPhone and iPad help directs users to use Sheets on a computer to hide or unhide a sheet; it does not document those actions in the iOS app. See Google’s iPhone and iPad instructions.

Hiding a tab only removes it from the visible tab row; it is not an access-control measure. Google explains that spreadsheet editors can unhide and view hidden sheets, and viewers may still access their contents. A viewer who makes a copy can unhide a sheet in that copy. Google’s guidance is explicit: “Hiding a sheet is not the same as protecting a sheet.” Use appropriate sharing settings or sheet protection when you need to limit access to information, rather than relying on a hidden tab.
