On most VIZIO sets you can take YouTube off the home screen or out of your app list in a few button presses. Whether you can also uninstall it depends on which VIZIO platform your TV runs, so identify that first.

The steps depend on the TV’s platform. On a V.I.A. Plus model, highlight YouTube in the My Apps tab, press and hold OK, choose Delete, and confirm. VIZIO’s manual for that platform describes the result as removal from the My Apps list. On SmartCast/VIZIO Home, the available instructions describe removing the app from the home-screen list. Neither source says this uninstalls YouTube from the TV. A removed tile and an uninstalled app are different outcomes, and this guide keeps them separate.

Identify your TV’s platform
Open the home screen and look at how the apps are arranged and which menus are available. The table below shows what each interface offers, using the wording found in VIZIO’s own documentation.

Remove YouTube on a V.I.A. Plus TV
- Open the My Apps tab.
- Highlight YouTube.
- Press and hold OK to open the app options.
- Choose Delete and press OK.
- In the confirmation dialog, select Delete and press OK. The dialog reads, “This will remove the app from your My Apps list.”
The manual states the general purpose of these controls in one sentence: “You can add, delete, and move apps around on your My Apps tab for a custom look and feel.” That is the only removal function it documents, so treat the result as removal from the list rather than a system-level uninstall.
Remove YouTube on SmartCast / VIZIO Home
- Open Apps in the left navigation.
- Go to Homescreen Apps.
- Select YouTube.
- Use the remove option shown on screen, then confirm.
This sequence is interface-specific guidance from a community response dated 2023. Menu wording and availability can vary with the interface version and firmware on your set, so if a label is missing, check the manual for your model.

Uninstall YouTube on a Google TV interface
A VIZIO-hosted troubleshooting page for a Google TV configuration describes this route: open Settings, go to Apps, select YouTube, and choose Uninstall. Use it only if your TV shows that Google TV menu. These steps are specific to that configuration. They are not the V.I.A. Plus procedure, and they do not establish that every VIZIO model offers an uninstall option.

- Confirm the platform first. The My Apps tab points to V.I.A. Plus, Homescreen Apps points to SmartCast/VIZIO Home, and a Settings menu with an Uninstall option points to the Google TV route.
- Check the model number on the TV or in its settings, then open the matching VIZIO user manual.
- If no uninstall option appears, the app can still be removed from the home screen or app list using the platform steps above.
Keep the outcome precise
When you describe the result, match the action to the menu you used. Removing YouTube from My Apps or the home screen clears the shortcut. Uninstalling it is a separate action, available only where the menu offers Uninstall.
