To remove Samsung Internet, open Settings > Apps > Samsung Internet and check whether your Galaxy offers Uninstall or Disable. If neither option appears, you can hide the app icon instead. To make links open in another browser, change the default browser separately. Samsung says available controls and menu labels vary by device and software version.
Choose what “remove” means
Uninstalling, disabling, hiding the icon, changing the default browser, and removing a Home-screen shortcut have different results. Use this guide to choose the action that matches what you want.

Check whether Samsung Internet can be uninstalled or disabled
Samsung’s support guidance distinguishes apps that can be deleted from pre-installed apps that may only be disabled or hidden. It does not guarantee that Samsung Internet has an Uninstall or Disable button on every Galaxy model. Check your device before proceeding.

- Open Settings > Apps.
- Tap Samsung Internet.
- Choose the option you want if it is available: Uninstall removes the app; Disable leaves it installed but stops it from running.
- Confirm the prompt on screen.
You can also touch and hold Samsung Internet on the Apps screen and inspect the available actions. Follow the option actually shown on your phone; app controls can differ by model and software or app version. Samsung’s UK guide to pre-installed apps explains that uninstalling is not offered for every preloaded app and that disabling is available only for some.

Re-enable a disabled app
If you disabled Samsung Internet and want it back, open Settings > Apps, select Samsung Internet, and tap Enable. Samsung says disabling leaves the app installed, so enabling restores it rather than requiring a new installation.
Hide Samsung Internet without uninstalling it
Hiding is the fallback when you want the icon out of sight but the app controls do not offer Uninstall or Disable. It does not remove the app from the phone.

- Open the Apps screen and tap More options (usually the three-dot menu).
- Tap Settings, then Hide apps on Home and Apps screens.
- Select Samsung Internet and tap Done.
To show it again, return to the same hidden-apps list, deselect Samsung Internet, and tap Done. A hidden app may still be found by name in Apps search. Samsung’s Canada app-management guide documents this behavior; menu wording can vary across regions and software builds.

Set another browser to open links
If your main goal is to stop links opening in Samsung Internet, change the default browser. This does not uninstall, disable, or hide Samsung Internet.

- Open Settings > Apps.
- Tap Choose default apps.
- Tap Browser app.
- Select the browser you want to handle links. Only installed browsers appear as choices.
These steps are documented in Samsung’s Canada guide; labels may differ on other devices or software versions.
Remove only the Home-screen shortcut
To clear the Home screen while keeping Samsung Internet available in the Apps screen, touch and hold its Home-screen shortcut and tap Remove, if that action is offered. This removes the shortcut, not the app. The available long-press actions vary by app, model, and software version.

Why you may not see Uninstall or Disable
Samsung says some pre-installed apps cannot be uninstalled, and only some can be disabled. If neither button appears for Samsung Internet, your device does not offer that action through the app settings shown. Hide the app if you only want to remove its visible icon, or change the default browser if you want links to open elsewhere. Samsung notes that procedures and layouts can vary by device model, software version, and app version.
