There is no universal Mac license-removal tool. The right route depends on whether you want to clear locally stored license files, release an activation so it can be reused, remove a manually entered key, or uninstall the app. Those actions are not interchangeable, and cancelling a subscription is separate again. The seven options below are official, vendor-specific workflows—not a tested ranking of interchangeable utilities.
Choose the action you actually need
- Clear license files: Removes local licensing data; the app may need activation again.
- Deactivate or release an activation: Frees a license under the vendor’s rules, often so you can activate another device.
- Remove a stored key: Deletes a key entered in an app, where that app still uses keys.
- Uninstall the app: Removes application files, but does not necessarily change the license or subscription.
- Cancel a subscription: Manage this through the vendor or billing account. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription purchased with it, as Apple explains.
Before changing a license, open the publisher’s current support instructions for your exact app and version. Make sure you can access the account or license details needed to reactivate it.

How to remove Microsoft Office license files on a Mac
Use Microsoft’s dedicated utility only when you intend to clear Office license files. Microsoft says it removes all Microsoft 365 for Mac licenses; afterward, sign in to activate Office again. Confirm you can access the account associated with the license you want to use before proceeding.
Follow the current steps on Microsoft’s Office license removal page. This utility is for Office licensing, not other Mac apps.

How to deactivate Snagit or Camtasia
Snagit
For Snagit 2021 or later on Mac, TechSmith’s documented in-app route is Snagit > Manage License. The available activation-clearing options vary by license type, so use the linked TechSmith instructions for the relevant account or license.
Camtasia
TechSmith’s cited instructions describe deactivation for Camtasia 2020, followed by moving Camtasia to the Trash to uninstall it. The version qualification matters: consult TechSmith’s Camtasia uninstall instructions rather than applying that sequence to a different release without checking its guidance.

When uninstalling also affects the license
Waves Central is an example of a vendor manager that combines product uninstall and license handling: select Waves products to remove, then decide whether to deactivate their licenses. Waves says deactivation is the default, but the license can be kept active. Follow Waves’ current procedure and check the choice before confirming.

Remove an Omni license key or sign out
Omni’s process depends on how the particular app is activated. Older versions may have a manually entered key in the app’s Licenses panel; Omni says its current apps no longer use license keys and use account activation instead. Preserve the old key and related purchase details before deleting it. For the appropriate route, consult Omni’s instructions.
Uninstall GRAPHISOFT or Steinberg license managers
GRAPHISOFT License Manager Tool
GRAPHISOFT documents uninstalling and reinstalling its License Manager Tool as a way to troubleshoot license detection or connection issues. This is manager maintenance for GRAPHISOFT software, not a way to remove licenses for unrelated applications. Use GRAPHISOFT’s procedure.

Steinberg eLicenser Control Center
Steinberg’s uninstaller applies to its legacy eLicenser Control Center. Its instructions include checking for specified remaining files after removal. Because this is a specialized legacy route, follow Steinberg’s guidance for the system and license setup involved.

Not reliably. An app’s uninstaller may remove related files, but license deactivation is a separate vendor-specific action unless the vendor explicitly combines them, as Waves does in its manager. Apple recommends using an app-specific uninstaller when one is provided, because it may remove login items, extensions, and other app data that moving the app to Trash leaves behind. If there is no uninstaller or in-app removal feature, Apple says to move the app to Trash; Finder cannot remove some apps required by macOS. See Apple’s uninstall guidance.

Subscription billing is separate too: removing an app does not cancel a subscription purchased with it. Cancel it through the account or billing route that manages the subscription.
