In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, open Settings → Accessibility and turn on Unlimited Item Durability. CD PROJEKT RED says enabled gear will never wear down, so you will not need to visit craftsmen for repairs. The publisher documents this option for Remastered; its availability in earlier versions is not established.
Enable Unlimited Item Durability in Remastered
- Open Settings.
- Select Accessibility.
- Enable Unlimited Item Durability.
The option is part of the new Accessibility section described by CD PROJEKT RED. The publisher does not provide separate button-by-button navigation for each platform, so the exact input for opening menus depends on your platform.

CD PROJEKT RED announced Remastered on 28 September 2026, with release scheduled for 29 September 2026 on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement says owners of an earlier physical or digital version can upgrade for free within the same platform ecosystem. CD PROJEKT RED’s Remastered announcement
What if the toggle is missing?
The cited announcement identifies Unlimited Item Durability as a Remastered feature; it does not establish that the option exists in older builds or specify a patch cutoff. Check which game version you are running before looking for the setting. If you do not see it, use the normal repair options available in your version.

Repair worn gear in versions without the toggle
The in-game tutorial says items wear out with use and become less effective when durability falls below a certain level. It directs players to a craftsman to repair them. Repairing restores condition but does not prevent future wear. Tutorial text reproduced by Games Lantern
Use the durability HUD to spot severe damage
The official PC manual describes the durability display as sections corresponding to equipped-item slots. When a section turns red, the item in that slot is severely damaged. The Witcher 3 PC manual

Use a repair kit or visit a craftsman
Repair kits restore durability and are consumed when used. They can be found in containers or bought from blacksmiths and armorers. Different kit tiers restore different amounts, but exact values are not included here because the available figures come from community-wiki data and may not match every version. A craftsman is the tutorial’s stated repair option. Repair-kit reference
