Find your PC case’s exact model before removing its glass: there is no universal release method. Depending on the design, the panel may use screws, a captive locking screw, thumbscrews, snaps, hinges, or lift-off fittings. Check the manufacturer’s instructions, support the glass as you release it, and never bend, twist, or force a panel that remains caught.
Before you remove the panel
- Identify the case model. Check the case, packaging, order record, or system specifications. If you cannot identify it, photograph the rear and panel edges and ask the manufacturer’s support team. A similar-looking case or generic video is not definitive.
- Shut down and disconnect power. This is a prudent precaution before working around the case.
- Prepare a stable work area. Clear a flat surface and keep the panel’s eventual resting place ready. ASUS recommends laying the GT501 case flat for its procedure and wearing gloves: ASUS TUF Gaming GT501 Case Glass Side Panel Replacement.
- Inspect the exact panel. Look along its rear edge, corners, top, and any hinge area for screws, tabs, or ball sockets. Follow the model’s manual for which fasteners to release and in what order; do not assume all screws or panels move the same way.
Release the glass without forcing it
Keep a hand supporting the glass before you release the final fastener or latch. Follow the release direction in the case instructions. For example, CORSAIR’s 2800X guide says to pull the top of the panel outward, tilt it toward the floor, and lift it away; NZXT’s H710 instructions say to loosen its captive screw and pull the top away using the panel tab.

If the panel still feels caught, stop and check the model-specific instructions for another fastener, tab, or fitting. Do not pry, twist, or pull harder. NZXT specifically warns that the H6 panel slots into the bottom of the case and can shatter if stress is applied along that edge; that warning applies to the H6 design, not necessarily every case.

Set the panel down and reinstall it
Place detached glass flat on a soft, stable surface, away from edges and foot traffic. CORSAIR cautions against placing its glass on hard surfaces such as ceramic, stone, masonry, or concrete, and says removing the panel’s anti-shatter film damages it. Its guide warns: “This product contains tempered glass. Handle with care.” See the CORSAIR 2800X guide.
To reinstall the panel, reverse the documented sequence for your model. Align it before tightening screws or engaging snaps, keep cables clear, and do not overtighten screws against the glass. ASUS specifically advises arranging wires neatly during assembly in its GT501 instructions.

If the glass is cracked or broken
Do not press on a damaged panel or keep handling it bare-handed. The manufacturer guidance cited here does not establish a universal method for handling already shattered case glass. Contact the case maker to identify a compatible replacement; CORSAIR says replacement panels are available through its site and support, while compatibility and availability depend on the exact model.
