To remove a browser-added URL, date, title, or page number from a webpage PDF, turn off Headers and footers in the browser’s print dialog before saving. In Firefox, the option is called Print headers and footers. If the unwanted text is part of the webpage itself, this setting will not remove it.
First check whether the text comes from the browser or the webpage
Browser-generated headers and footers sit in the print margins and can include a page title, URL, date, or page number. Disable the print-dialog option to remove them.

If the text or graphics appear within the page’s content area, they are part of the webpage, not the browser’s print margins. Turning off headers and footers will leave them in place. Try a reader or clutter-free view, print only the content you need, or edit the page before printing.
Always inspect the print preview: a page can lay out differently on paper than it does on screen, and changing margins or scale can affect legibility.

Firefox: turn off Print headers and footers
- Open the webpage and open print preview.
- Choose Save to PDF as the destination.
- Expand More settings.
- Clear Print headers and footers.
- Check the preview, then save the PDF.
Firefox’s More settings also include margins, scale, paper size, page format, and print backgrounds. If the page offers a Simplified format, it can change what is printed and cannot be combined with printing backgrounds. Mozilla’s Firefox printing instructions
Microsoft Edge: turn off Headers and footers
- Open the webpage and choose Settings and more > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS.
- Expand More settings.
- Turn off Headers and footers.
- Choose the PDF destination, review the preview, and save.
When selected, Edge’s option adds the current date in the header and the page number in the footer. If the unwanted material is clutter within the webpage, Edge’s Immersive Reader can provide a clutter-free print workaround: open the page in Immersive Reader and print. Chrome and other Chromium browsers
In Chrome, open print preview, find the headers-and-footers option, turn it off, and save as PDF. The exact label and placement can vary by version. Chrome for Developers confirms that automatically generated headers and footers can be turned off in the print dialog, but a complete current consumer menu sequence is not established here. For Chromium pages, setting print margins to zero—or too small to leave room for browser text—can prevent automatic headers and footers from appearing. Use this only if the print-dialog setting is unavailable: margins also control content spacing, and Chromium documents a caveat in which the first page’s available space can affect whether margin content appears on later pages. Check every page in the preview.

When Edge’s setting is locked or keeps returning
An organization may manage Edge and impose the setting through the PrintHeaderFooter policy. Microsoft documents that an unconfigured policy leaves the choice to the user, a disabled policy prevents headers and footers from printing, and an enabled policy always prints them. The policy supports Windows and macOS from Edge 77; Android and iOS are unsupported. Safari: what is confirmed
Apple’s available instructions confirm that Safari on iPhone can annotate and save a webpage as a PDF, but they do not document a control for disabling browser-generated headers and footers.
