Support the phone and ease a flexible case off gradually with your fingertips, starting at a corner or edge. Don’t pry with a sharp object or force a stuck case: the safe release point depends on the phone and case design, so check the case leaflet or the manufacturer’s instructions when removal isn’t straightforward.
Before you remove the case
- Work over a clean, stable surface and hold the phone securely.
- If the case is unusually tight, has multiple pieces, or attaches with adhesive, check its leaflet or the phone maker’s instructions first.
- Keep pressure away from the screen, buttons, camera glass and, on a foldable phone, the hinge.
How to remove a flexible snap-on case
- Hold the phone securely in one hand.
- Use the pad of your thumb or your fingertips to ease one corner or edge outward. Release it gradually rather than pulling the case off in one motion.
- Work around the phone a little at a time until the case comes free. If it resists, stop instead of levering harder; consult the case instructions for its intended release point.
Samsung’s guidance for Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 cases describes pushing a corner outward with the thumb pad and then sliding an edge outward. Its instructions for earlier Fold and Flip models give model-specific corner directions, so there isn’t one universal starting corner for every case. What to do if the case won’t release
Don’t insert a knife, screwdriver, card or other sharp or rigid object into the gap. Samsung cautions against sharp tools for the cited foldable cases and says removal should be done patiently. It also warns that forceful or incorrect removal can strip coating or damage the case. Set the phone down if needed and check the instructions for the exact model and case before trying again.

Foldable phones and their cases can have specific handling steps. Follow the guide for your exact model and case rather than applying the Fold7 or Flip7 sequence to every Fold or Flip. Take particular care not to put pressure on the hinge while releasing the case.

Clean the phone and case separately
After removal, follow the cleaning instructions for each item’s materials. Apple advises removing an iPhone from its case before cleaning the case and provides material-specific guidance in its guide to cleaning Apple products. Samsung recommends wiping its case with a microfiber cloth before attaching it; the cloth is for cleaning, not prying.
