To kick someone off your Cox WiFi, open the Panoramic Wifi app, find the connected device under its assigned profile, and choose Pause device. That pauses WiFi access temporarily. If you need to revoke access for anyone who knows the password, change your WiFi password instead, then reconnect only devices you trust.
Before you start: check your Cox setup
The Panoramic Wifi app’s controls depend on your Cox service and compatible equipment. Sign in with your Cox user ID and confirm you have an eligible Panoramic Wifi setup. Cox says the primary account holder can also manage home and guest networks through My Wifi where available. If you use different or customer-owned equipment, its own management interface may be needed.

Pause one device in the Panoramic Wifi app
- Open the app and sign in. Use the Cox user ID associated with the eligible Panoramic Wifi service.
- Review connected devices. Go to the WiFi or device-management area and look at devices and their assigned profiles. Cox supports assigning devices to people, which can help distinguish household devices.
- Check the device before acting. A displayed device name does not prove who owns it. Check with household members and consider whether a device may be yours before pausing it.
- Open the relevant profile and select the assigned device. Cox’s welcome kit documents the single-device pause path from a user profile.
- Tap Pause device, select a timeframe, and tap Pause to confirm. Cox describes Wifi Pause as removing WiFi access temporarily.
The exact menu labels can vary with app and equipment versions. Cox’s Cox Internet Welcome Kit gives the documented device-pause steps.
Pause every device on a profile
If the goal is to pause all devices assigned to one person, open the WiFi tab, tap Manage People, and choose Pause All Devices on that person’s profile card. This affects every device assigned to that profile, so use it only when that is what you intend.

An indefinite profile pause does not end automatically: Cox says it must be manually unpaused. Use the timeframe controls carefully, and return to the profile to restore access when appropriate.
Change the WiFi password to revoke shared credentials
Pausing is targeted to a device or profile. If the password has been shared broadly, you cannot identify the device, or you want to invalidate the shared network credentials, change the WiFi password. Cox supports changing the network name and password on Cox.com or in the Cox app. For the Panoramic Wifi app, Cox documents this route: WiFi → WiFi details → Edit WiFi settings, then save the changes.

A password change updates network credentials; Cox’s instructions do not promise that it immediately removes old device records from the app’s displayed list. For account and network settings, see Residential Internet Support.

If a paused device reconnects
- Check whether the pause timeframe ended or whether the device was unpaused.
- If you changed the password, verify that the new setting was saved and reconnect your trusted devices with it.
- Review who can share the WiFi details. Cox’s sharing feature can send network information or display a QR code, so someone with access may be able to pass the credentials along.
If you cannot find the pause controls
Confirm that your gateway and Cox service support the Panoramic Wifi app controls. If you use other equipment, consult its manufacturer’s documented router interface and current menu labels. Cox lists My Wifi management for primary account holders’ home and guest networks where available; its Learn about Cybersecurity page also describes device-control features in the context of compatible gateways.

- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Which option fits your situation?
| Option | What it does | Best fit | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pause one assigned device | Temporarily stops that device’s WiFi access for a selected timeframe. | You recognize the device and want a targeted interruption. | The device must be identifiable and assigned as needed; the pause is temporary. |
| Pause a profile | Pauses all devices assigned to a person’s profile. | You want to pause that person’s devices together. | It can affect multiple devices; an indefinite pause must be manually ended. |
| Change the WiFi password | Changes the network credentials. | The password was shared, device identity is unclear, or you want a broader credential reset. | Trusted devices need the new password; Cox does not state that old device records are automatically cleared. |
| Use router-level controls | Manages access through the router’s own interface. | Your Cox setup does not provide the Panoramic app controls. | Menus and capabilities depend on the specific equipment. |
