Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteOn an iPhone, open Wallet, select the card, tap More, choose Card Details, scroll to the bottom, and tap Remove Card. Apple Pay cards are provisioned separately on each device, so repeat the process on any Apple Watch, iPad, Mac, or Apple Vision Pro where the card appears. Removing a card from Wallet does not close the underlying credit-card account.
Remove a credit card from Apple Pay on iPhone
- Open the Wallet app.
- Tap the credit or debit card you want to remove. The card must be selected before the additional controls appear.
- Tap the More button.
- Tap Card Details.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Remove Card, then confirm if prompted.
On iOS 15 and earlier, Apple may use a different layout and may not show Card Details as a separate step. Apple’s current instructions are available at Apple Support.

Remove a card from Apple Watch
From the watch
- Open Wallet on Apple Watch.
- Tap the card.
- Scroll down and tap Remove.
From the paired iPhone
- Open the Apple Watch app.
- Tap My Watch, then Wallet & Apple Pay.
- Tap the card and choose Remove Card.
An Apple Watch has its own Apple Pay device credential. Removing the card from the iPhone does not necessarily remove the separately provisioned card from the watch. See Apple’s Apple Watch guide for the watch-specific path.
Remove a card from iPad
- Open Settings.
- Tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
- Tap the card.
- Tap Remove Card.
iPadOS 15 and earlier can show different labels or screens. Apple also groups Apple Vision Pro’s Wallet controls with this Settings path. The iPad guide covers the device-specific interface.

- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.

Remove a card from Mac
Apple’s documented removal path applies to Macs with Touch ID:
- Open System Settings (called System Preferences on older macOS versions).
- Select Wallet & Apple Pay.
- Click the card.
- Click Remove.
A Mac without built-in Touch ID may authorize purchases through a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch, so its Wallet behavior is not identical to a Touch ID Mac. Apple’s setup and device requirements are described at Apple Support.
Remove a card from Apple Vision Pro
- Open Settings.
- Tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
- Select the card.
- Tap Remove Card.
Apple Pay availability and features vary by country or region and can depend on compatible hardware, software, and the card issuer.

Lost or stolen device: disable Apple Pay first
If you cannot open Wallet because an iPhone, watch, iPad, Mac, or Vision Pro is missing, do not wait for ordinary troubleshooting.
Mark the device as lost
Use Find My to mark the device as lost. Apple says Lost Mode turns off Apple Pay on that device.
Remove Wallet items remotely from another Apple device
- Open Settings on another iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name, then select the lost device.
- Under Wallet & Apple Pay, tap Remove Items.
Remove Wallet items from the web
- Sign in to your Apple Account in a web browser.
- Open Devices and select the lost device.
- In its Wallet & Apple Pay section, choose Remove Items.
Call the card issuer
Contact each issuer immediately if the physical card is lost, stolen, compromised, or showing unauthorized transactions. Issuers can suspend or replace the card and handle fraud reports. Apple’s lost-device and Wallet guidance is available at Apple’s iPhone User Guide.

Apple’s security documentation describes payment suspension or revocation by the issuer or payment network even when a device is offline, with removal from the device’s Secure Element completed when it can contact Apple’s servers. Do not treat that as a guarantee of instant completion in every network condition: use Lost Mode and call the issuer promptly. See Apple Platform Security.

No. Removing a card from an iPhone or iPad does not automatically remove its Apple Pay version from an Apple Watch, another iPhone, an iPad, Mac, or Vision Pro. Check each device where the card appears and remove it separately. Each device can have its own Apple Pay credential.
What removal does—and does not do
- It does: remove that card’s Apple Pay credential from the selected device and prevent that credential from being used there.
- It does not: cancel, close, freeze, or replace the underlying credit-card account.
- It does not: automatically reverse completed purchases, cancel recurring merchant arrangements, or erase the issuer’s transaction history.
- It does not: remove copies from your other Apple devices.
Apple stores the Device Account Number associated with an Apple Pay card in the device’s Secure Element; it is isolated from the operating system and is not stored on Apple’s servers or backed up to iCloud. Removing that device credential is therefore different from canceling the physical card account. Details are in Apple’s Apple Pay security overview.

Should you remove the card or only change the default?
If you only want to stop accidentally selecting a card, changing the default keeps it available in Wallet. On iPhone, touch and hold another payment card, then drag it in front of the others. On Apple Watch, open Watch on the iPhone, tap My Watch → Wallet & Apple Pay → Default Card, and choose a different card.
Remove the card instead when you are handing over a device, no longer want it stored there, or believe the Apple Pay credential should not remain available.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhat if “Remove Card” is missing?
- Confirm that you opened the actual payment card, not a pass, ticket, or expired entry.
- On iPhone, reopen the card and use More → Card Details, then scroll completely to the bottom.
- Check the operating system version. Older iOS and iPadOS releases use different interfaces.
- Restart the device and check the Wallet screen again. A managed work or school device may also have administrative restrictions that affect Wallet behavior.
- If removal still fails, contact Apple Support or the card issuer.
- If the device is missing, skip these checks and use Find My, remote removal, or the issuer’s emergency support immediately.
Cards that were replaced, expired, or compromised
Expired or outdated card
Remove the old Wallet entry using the normal device steps. If the bank issued a replacement, follow the issuer’s instructions to add and verify the new card.

Compromised physical card
Call the issuer immediately to freeze, replace, or close the physical card. Wallet removal alone does not protect transactions made with the card number outside Apple Pay.
Unauthorized Apple Pay transaction
Report it through the issuer’s fraud process. Removing the card from Wallet does not substitute for a dispute or fraud report.
Is signing out of iCloud an alternative?
Signing out of iCloud removes credit and debit cards from Apple Pay on that device, and the cards can be added again after signing in. It is a broad account action, however, and is unnecessary when you only want to remove one card. Use the device-specific removal path unless you have a separate reason to sign out.
