Start with the TV or playback device’s A/V Sync, audio delay, or lip-sync setting. Adjust it while playing dialogue with visible mouth movement. If that does not correct the mismatch, check that both the Bluetooth transmitter and speaker support the same low-latency codec; otherwise, try the TV speakers or a wired audio connection.
Why Bluetooth audio can lag behind video
Bluetooth speaker delay is not necessarily a fault in the speaker. Audio buffering and retransmissions can add latency across the whole path from the video source to the speaker. The Bluetooth SIG describes typical Bluetooth music-streaming latency as 100–200 ms and notes that around 200 ms of audio delay can be noticeable when matching dialogue to a picture. These are general technical descriptions, not measurements of every speaker or video setup. Bluetooth SIG’s LE Audio book explains that a source can sometimes compensate by delaying the video, but whether that happens depends on device support and behavior.
The AVDTP transport protocol used by A2DP includes a Delay Reporting feature. When the source and receiver support and use it, the source can learn about audio-rendering delay and adjust video timing. If the setup does not report or compensate for the relevant delay, sound may remain behind the picture.
Adjust the TV or playback device’s sync setting
- Open the audio or display settings. Look for a control called A/V Sync, audio delay, lip-sync, or audio/video synchronization. The exact label and menu location vary by manufacturer and model.
- Change the setting in small steps. Play a scene with clear dialogue and visible mouth movement. Adjust one control at a time and check whether the sound moves closer to the picture.
- Check what the control changes. Some devices delay audio; others delay picture output. If the mismatch gets worse, undo the change or try the opposite direction if the menu allows it.
- Use the instructions for your exact model. Menu paths and feature restrictions are not universal, so consult the TV manual or manufacturer support page if the setting is missing or unclear.
Sony example: A/V Sync menu path
For the Sony TV models covered by its support article, the documented path is Quick Settings → Settings → Display & Sound → Audio output → Audio system settings → A/V sync. Sony says that with A/V Sync off, Bluetooth devices using A2DP may produce audio output delay. This path applies only to the models covered by Sony’s support article. On those models, Sony also documents that A/V Sync cannot be activated in Multi-View or Game Mode.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check both ends before choosing a low-latency transmitter
A Bluetooth transmitter can help only if the transmitting side and the speaker support a compatible low-latency codec. Confirm codec support for both devices before buying; a transmitter cannot make an unsupported speaker use that codec. Also check how the transmitter connects to the TV, such as through an output the TV actually provides.
Qualcomm positions aptX Low Latency for lip-sync and gaming. Qualcomm states that an audio adapter running an aptX Low Latency encoder in an embedded Bluetooth device achieves approximately 40 ms. That is a vendor claim for the stated configuration, not a guarantee of end-to-end latency with any TV, transmitter, speaker, or app.

Do not treat codec names as interchangeable. Qualcomm describes aptX Adaptive separately, claiming approximately 80 ms low system latency; that figure is not an aptX Low Latency specification and is also a vendor claim. Check the specific capabilities of the products you intend to use rather than assuming that one aptX label implies another. Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive page describes that separate technology.
Try TV speakers or a wired connection if Bluetooth still lags
If sync controls and compatible Bluetooth equipment do not solve the problem, try the TV’s own speakers or connect the audio equipment by HDMI or digital optical, if both devices support the required connection. Sony lists TV speakers and wired HDMI or digital optical connections as alternatives for the models in its support case. Check your own TV and audio equipment for available ports and the correct connection method.

Account for gaming and other timing trade-offs
Sync correction may delay picture output to bring it into line with the audio. Sony warns that, on the applicable models, this can make TV response feel slower while gaming. If responsiveness matters more than perfect synchronization, compare the result with A/V Sync disabled and consider whether the feature’s documented Game Mode or Multi-View restriction applies to your TV.
