First identify which kind of code you have: a standard Epic product code, a Fortnite Gift Card, a V-Bucks card, or a code for a particular cosmetic promotion. They do not share one redemption process. Use Epic’s official route for the first three, and the promotion issuer’s official instructions for a promotional cosmetic code.
Identify the code before entering it
| Code type | What it provides | Official route | Important check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Epic retail or product code | A product or game entitlement | Epic Games Launcher or Epic Games Store code-redemption page | Sign in to the Epic account where you want the entitlement. Epic’s product-code instructions |
| Fortnite Gift Card | Money added to Epic account balance | epicgames.com/redeem | The card currency must match the currency of the Epic account balance. Epic’s gift-card guidance |
| V-Bucks card | V-Bucks only | fortnite.com/vbuckscard | Check the intended Epic account and, on console, the linked PlayStation or Xbox account. Epic’s V-Bucks instructions |
| Promotion-specific cosmetic code | Whatever the named promotion offers | Follow the promotion issuer’s official instructions | Terms and redemption routes can vary; no universal process or policy is established for all such codes. |
A Fortnite Gift Card is not a direct cosmetic unlock or a V-Bucks card: it adds funds to your Epic account balance. A V-Bucks card adds V-Bucks, not a specific outfit. Epic says older V-Bucks cards may still be available in some regions as Fortnite Gift Cards roll out.

Redeem a standard Epic product code
- Sign in to the Epic account that should receive the game or product.
- In the Epic Games Launcher, select your account name menu and choose Redeem Code. Alternatively, use the code-redemption page on the Epic Games Store website.
- Enter the code and submit it. A successful redemption message confirms that Epic accepted it; game codes appear in the launcher library.
Epic’s general retail product-code instructions exclude Fortnite Gift Cards and V-Bucks Cards. Use their separate flows below instead.

- Sign in to the Epic account you want to fund.
- Go to epicgames.com/redeem and follow the on-screen redemption steps.
- Before confirming, check that the gift card currency matches the currency of the Epic account balance. Epic’s terms also say card eligibility may be limited to accounts registered in the country for which the card was made; check the card terms for your location.
Epic’s gift-card page currently states that the first redemption of a new Fortnite Gift Card earns the GHOST Monks Outfit through December 31, 2026. The offer is limited to one outfit per Epic account and to regions where gift cards are sold; older V-Bucks cards do not qualify. Check Epic’s current redemption page for the live offer terms before relying on them.
#1 Best Overall
- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
Redeem a V-Bucks card
- Visit fortnite.com/vbuckscard and follow the account and platform selection flow.
- Check the Epic account and in-game display name shown before you confirm. This is the point to stop if either is not the account you intended.
- For PlayStation or Xbox, follow the additional steps if the flow provides a secondary code. Redeem that code through the Sony or Microsoft account linked to the Epic account.
Epic describes the V-Bucks and Fortnite Gift Card codes as 16 digits. For console troubleshooting, it describes secondary codes as 12 characters for PlayStation and 25 characters for Xbox. These lengths help distinguish a card code from a console code; they do not make the products interchangeable.

Rank #4
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Handle invalid codes and missing console codes
- Check the route and entry: make sure you are using the correct official page for the type of code, then carefully re-enter it. A product code, gift card and V-Bucks card do not use the same process.
- If a V-Bucks card still appears invalid: Epic says the retailer may not have activated it. Contact the retailer that sold the card. Epic’s invalid-card guidance
- If you need a missing console secondary code: Epic says to look in Account Settings → Transactions → V-Bucks Card Redemption. Epic’s secondary-code instructions
Protect your account and code
- Start from Epic’s official domains or the named promotion issuer’s official instructions. Do not rely on a search result or message to prove a page is legitimate.
- Avoid “free skin code” generators and third-party sellers that promise codes without clear authorization. Do not enter your Epic password on a page that is not an official sign-in flow.
- Never post or send your code or password in comments or messages. Treat an unused code like a payment credential.
- For a promotional cosmetic code, read the issuer’s own terms for eligibility, region, platform, expiration and account requirements. Those rules are not universal across promotions.
