First check whether your Galaxy A23 has Samsung’s built-in call recording control: open the Phone app, tap More options (the three-dot menu), choose Settings, and look for Record calls. Samsung says availability varies by region, model, carrier, and software, so the option is not guaranteed on every A23. Samsung’s call-recording guide describes the steps when the feature is available.
Check whether call recording is available on your A23
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap More options (three dots), then Settings.
- Look for Record calls.
If that menu is present, open it to see the recording controls on your phone. If it is missing, Samsung’s instructions do not establish that call recording can be enabled on your particular A23; the availability can vary with the exact model or variant, country, carrier, and software. Samsung also notes that menu paths may differ by region and model. Check the support information for your exact model code and country, or ask Samsung or your carrier about that variant. Samsung Saudi Arabia’s guide and Samsung Colombia’s guide describe these variations.

Samsung’s firmware histories list Android 14 updates in 2026 for several A23 variants: SM-A236U and SM-A236E (A23 5G), and SM-A235M and SM-A235F (A23). Those listings describe software updates, not whether call recording is enabled on each model. Samsung’s US guidance about recording on select phones updated to One UI 7.0 or later likewise does not confirm support on a specific A23. Set up automatic call recording
Where the feature is available, open Phone > More options > Settings > Record calls > Auto record calls. Turn the setting on, review any terms shown, and choose from the categories offered on your phone—for example, all calls, calls with unsaved numbers, or calls with selected numbers. The options shown depend on the device and regional software; do not assume every A23 offers every category. Samsung’s automatic recording instructions.
Find, play, or share saved recordings
Samsung’s documented Phone app route is Phone > More options > Settings > Record calls > Recorded calls. Select a recording to play it; available sharing controls depend on the device software. Samsung also documents access through My Files or Voice Recorder in some regions, but folder locations and menus vary. For example, Samsung Colombia describes My Files > Audio > Call; treat that as Colombia-specific guidance, not a guaranteed path for every A23. Know which calls may not be recorded
Samsung India says its call recorder does not work with Wi-Fi calling. Samsung Colombia describes its native feature as intended for traditional operator cellular calls and excludes Wi-Fi calling and calls in third-party apps. These are regional instructions, so do not assume the same behavior on every variant. Samsung India’s guide and Samsung Colombia’s guide.
If “Record calls” is missing
- Confirm the exact model code (for example, SM-A235 or SM-A236 variant) and the country or carrier version of the phone.
- Check Samsung’s support guidance for that region and model, and ask Samsung or your carrier whether the feature is offered for that configuration.
- Do not assume a software update, factory reset, accessory, or downloaded app will add reliable call recording. Samsung UK warns that downloaded apps may not capture the other person’s voice, and Samsung Colombia cautions that third-party apps may not record correctly on recent Android and One UI versions. Samsung UK and Samsung Colombia.
Check the rules and respect privacy
Call-recording laws depend on the applicable jurisdiction and circumstances. Samsung Saudi Arabia states: “Call recording may not be available in some countries due to local regulations.” Samsung also advises informing the other party before recording if required by law. Check the rules that apply to you and the other call participants before using the feature. Samsung Saudi Arabia’s guidance.
