There is no single worldwide rule that settles whether a delivery worker may record you at your door. The answer depends on where you live, what is being recorded, and how the footage is used or shared. You can ask the carrier or property manager what its wearable camera captures, when it records, who can see the footage, and how to complain. If a recording is posted online, save the link and details, report it to the platform, and check the privacy or legal routes available in your location.
Why smart glasses can be harder to notice
A phone held up to film is conspicuous; camera-enabled glasses may not be. The wearer can look at someone without raising a device, and a small recording indicator may be easy to miss, covered, or disabled. Australia’s eSafety Commissioner identifies this visibility problem and recommends safeguards including unmistakable indicators that cannot be disabled or easily obscured, automatic face blurring for people without informed consent, limits on retrieving information about members of the public, and preventing recording when glasses are not being worn. What a delivery camera might be used for
Amazon says its delivery glasses are designed to scan packages, show walking directions in the wearer’s field of view, capture proof of delivery, and provide pet alerts. The company says the system activates after drivers safely park at a delivery location, includes a hardware privacy switch, and is voluntary for Delivery Service Partner owners and their associates. In its September 21, 2026 update to an article first published October 22, 2025, Amazon reported that more than 500 delivery associates tested the glasses over 18 months and completed more than 275,000 customer deliveries using them. Amazon also said it was deploying another 5,000 devices during 2026 and planned to exceed 20,000 by the end of 2027. These are company-reported test and deployment figures, and the rollout plans may change.
What to ask the carrier or property manager
Policies differ, and the available official and company material does not establish a standard camera specification or retention policy across delivery companies. Ask questions about the actual device and process used on your route:

- What is captured? Ask whether the wearable records still images, video, audio, location data, or some combination, and whether capture is limited to package verification or proof of delivery.
- When does recording start and stop? Find out whether it records continuously, on approach, or only for a delivery task, and what signals that capture has begun or ended.
- Can the worker pause it? Ask whether there is a pause control and how you can request that sensitive areas, household members, or children not be recorded. Amazon says its glasses include a hardware privacy switch; that does not mean every device has one or establish how it is used.
- Who can access the footage? Ask whether recordings are uploaded, whether they are used in AI systems, and which people or teams can view them.
- How long is footage kept? Ask when it is deleted and whether you can request access, deletion, or a review of a recording.
- How do you raise a concern? Get the carrier’s complaint channel and ask what details it needs to investigate an incident.
If the delivery is managed by a building, ask the property manager as well as the carrier: the manager may have separate procedures for access, complaints, or recording on shared property.
What the rules say in some locations
Recording rules vary by country, and rules for making a recording may differ from rules for using or disclosing it. The following official guidance is specific to the named jurisdictions, not a universal rule.

United Kingdom
A UK Government answer dated June 30, 2026 says people may lawfully use smart glasses in public spaces, but certain non-consensual recording to cause alarm or distress or for sexual gratification may be criminal. It also says sharing intimate images without consent is criminal. Singapore
A Ministry of Digital Development and Information parliamentary response dated May 6, 2026 says the Personal Data Protection Act generally does not require consent for photography or recording in public. Subsequent use or disclosure of personal data must have a reasonable purpose and comply with applicable laws; misuse of intimate or private content may also engage criminal offences. Philippines
The National Privacy Commission says Circular No. 2025-01, which took effect June 10, 2025, addresses body-worn cameras and similar devices. Its announcement says creators who record people—especially when recordings are uploaded, streamed, or monetized—process personal data and should provide information, use privacy notices, mask images where needed, and respond to takedown or privacy requests. What to do if an interaction feels intrusive
- Prioritize safety. You can ask what the device is recording and whether it can be paused, but do not confront a worker in a way that could create a safety risk.
- Write down the incident details. Note the date, time, carrier, and route or delivery details. Contact the carrier or property manager through its normal complaint channel.
- If footage is posted, preserve it. Keep the page URL, screenshots, and relevant dates or account details. Report the content using the platform’s reporting or removal process; avoid resharing it as a way to document the problem.
- Use local privacy or legal routes. The UK Government and Philippines NPC materials describe removal- or takedown-related routes in their own contexts. Elsewhere, check your local privacy regulator or seek advice from a qualified local adviser. The rules depend on your location and the content involved.
