To protect a child’s Roblox account, keep passwords, browser cookies, verification codes and backup codes private; sign in only through Roblox’s official website or apps; and turn on account protections such as 2-Step Verification. Treat free-Robux links, in-game login forms, exploit downloads and requests to share a screen as warning signs.
What Roblox scams are trying to steal
Roblox Support says the most common way players lose accounts is by sharing login information directly or filling out online surveys. Scammers may also use lookalike sign-in pages, fake prizes, in-experience login forms, malicious downloads or browser extensions to capture credentials or other personal information. Roblox’s guidance describes these risks, but does not establish that account scams are increasing.

Passwords, cookies and verification codes
Keep a Roblox password, browser cookie, 2-Step Verification (2SV) code and backup code private. A browser cookie can keep a signed-in session active, so exposing it may put an account at risk even if the password is not shared. Roblox says its employees will not ask for these details. Do not share sensitive computer information, either.
Free Robux and prize offers
Roblox warns that fake free-Robux, membership and prize offers can be used to solicit account details. Don’t follow an unfamiliar offer’s link or enter a password to claim a reward. Roblox says official promotions are announced through its blog, Messages notifications or a banner on its site; check those channels instead.
In-game prompts, downloads and extensions
Roblox says login forms inside experiences should be treated as unsafe, even when they look official. Leave the experience rather than entering credentials, then report it from the experience’s details page.

A cheat or exploit download can be more than a game-rule violation: Roblox warns that exploits may install keyloggers or phishing software that collect passwords and other personal information. Exploiting can also lead to account deletion. Roblox also says it does not publish official browser extensions. Avoid unfamiliar extensions; if considering one, use a known extension store and check reviews and requested permissions.
How to secure a child’s Roblox account
Use a unique password and verified email
- Choose a hard-to-guess Roblox password that is not used for another service. Reusing a password can expose Roblox if another service is breached.
- Add and verify an email address so it can support password resets and account assistance. Roblox says a parent or guardian’s email may be used for a child where appropriate.
- On a shared computer, log out of Roblox after playing.
Roblox suggests using a password manager to generate strong, unique passwords. If Roblox displays a banner asking for a password change after suspicious activity, follow its instructions and replace the password with one not used elsewhere.
Turn on 2-Step Verification
Roblox’s support guidance describes 2-Step Verification methods including authenticator apps, email and security keys. A verified email is required, and setup and recovery details vary by method. To configure it, open account settings and follow Roblox’s current security instructions for the method you choose. Keep backup codes private and consider how you would regain access if a device or key is lost.

Consider Enhanced Protection
Roblox describes Enhanced Protection as requiring phishing-resistant sign-in methods, such as device-bound passkeys or supported hardware security keys. Its requirements include a verified email and a secondary identity-verification method. Check Roblox’s Enhanced Protection instructions before enabling it: losing access to passkeys can make account recovery harder, and support for devices and keys varies. A hardware key is optional; it is not required for every user.

What to do if your child clicked a link or shared information
- If they entered a password on a suspicious page: Change the Roblox password promptly using Roblox’s official website or app. Use a new, unique password, not the one entered on the suspicious page.
- If they shared a 2SV or backup code, cookie, or sensitive computer information: Secure the account through Roblox’s official settings and recovery routes. Do not send more details to anyone claiming to help recover it.
- If they downloaded an exploit or unknown extension: Stop using it and do not enter Roblox credentials while it is installed or running. Remove untrusted software and review account security; Roblox warns that such downloads may include keyloggers or phishing software.
- If they cannot sign in: Use Roblox’s official account-recovery process. Avoid unofficial recovery offers and never give another person the password, cookie or verification codes.
- Report the request or experience: Report suspicious messages, links or in-experience login prompts through Roblox’s reporting tools. For an in-experience prompt, leave first and use the experience’s details page to report it.
Simple rules to teach children
- Never share a password, cookie, verification code or backup code—even with someone claiming to be Roblox staff.
- Only sign in through the official Roblox site or app, not a link sent by another user or a form inside an experience.
- Do not download cheats, exploits or unfamiliar tools promising Robux or an advantage.
- Do not share a screen showing account settings, personal details or a login page.
- Ask a parent or guardian before following a prize link, installing an extension or responding to a request for account information.
