Why a camera bump is vulnerable
On some phones, the rear camera glass protrudes above the back panel. Huawei Consumer Support notes that this can increase the chance of the glass being scratched or broken. When the phone is placed down, a suitable raised case rim can keep the camera glass from directly touching a clean, flat surface; it cannot prevent every impact or contact with debris.

Raised-edge case for everyday contact
Look for a protective case made for the exact phone model, with an edge that wraps around the camera area and rises above the glass. Huawei’s recommendation is to “Use a phone/tablet protective case that wraps around the edge of the camera lens.” Mous describes a Super Thin case with a 0.5 mm raised camera bump, a dimension specific to that product—not an industry standard. Mous says the raised design helps with scratches and minor everyday damage, but is not intended for extreme drops or shocks. Case with an integrated camera cover
A sliding cover can physically shield the camera module while it is closed. For example, Spigen describes a sliding camera cover on its Galaxy S24 Optik Armor case. Compatibility is model-specific across the Galaxy S24 line, so check the precise phone variant before buying. A cover adds a step when taking photos and may add bulk; confirm that it opens and closes easily and does not obstruct lenses, flash, or sensors when in use. Optional separate lens protector
A separate protector may provide a sacrificial surface over the camera glass, but fit and performance vary by product. Confirm it is made for your exact phone and leaves every lens, the flash, and sensors unobstructed. Follow the accessory maker’s installation and cleaning instructions. Reduce avoidable scratches and clean carefully
- Do not store the phone loose with keys, gravel, or other sharp or abrasive objects. Huawei specifically names keys and gravel as things to avoid.
- Before wiping the camera area, make sure the cloth is clean. ZAGG suggests a microfiber cloth; avoid rubbing grit across the glass.
- Inspect the case rim and any camera cover periodically. If the case is cracked, distorted, or no longer sits securely, it may not keep the camera glass clear of surfaces.
These habits are sensible ways to reduce direct contact with abrasive material; the cited sources do not quantify how much they reduce scratches.
What to do if the camera glass is already damaged
If a lens is cracked, scratched, or worn and camera performance is affected, Huawei advises contacting Huawei support or taking the device and proof of purchase to a Huawei Customer Service Center. Huawei says repair method and cost depend on the service center, and damage caused by mishandling or accident is not covered by warranty.
