Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To keep a figure, card, or other compact block from splitting when someone prints your website or saves it as a PDF, add break-inside: avoid to that block in a print stylesheet. Use @media print for print-only layout changes and check the result in the target browser’s print preview: this CSS asks the browser to avoid a split, but it cannot guarantee one when content does not fit.
Use print CSS to keep related content together
Apply the rule to the semantic block that should stay intact—for example, a figure and its caption, or a compact client-documentation card. break-inside controls breaks inside an element’s principal box, so putting it on a distant child or unrelated wrapper may not prevent the split you care about. The element must generate a box for the property to apply.
@media print {
/* Keep compact, logically related units together. */
figure,
.client-documentation-card,
.keep-together {
break-inside: avoid;
page-break-inside: avoid; /* legacy alias for older print styles */
}
/* Avoid a heading stranded at the bottom of a page. */
h1, h2, h3 {
break-after: avoid-page;
}
/* Remove controls that do not belong in a client-facing PDF. */
nav,
.screen-only,
button {
display: none !important;
}
}
@page {
size: auto;
margin: 16mm;
}
Replace the example class names with selectors in your own site. The 16mm margin and automatic page size are starting values, not universal settings; use page dimensions and margins appropriate to the document and the reader’s print workflow.
Keep headings with the content that follows
break-after: avoid-page asks the browser not to insert a page break immediately after a heading. It can help prevent a heading from being stranded at the foot of a page, but the surrounding content and available page space still affect pagination.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Use the legacy alias only when useful
page-break-inside: avoid is a legacy alias for break-inside: avoid. Use the modern property for new CSS; including the alias can help when maintaining older print stylesheets. MDN documents the mapping and behavior in its reference for break-inside.
Set page geometry and hide screen-only elements
Avoidance rules work alongside page layout. The @page rule can set page dimensions, orientation, and margins; @media print can change layout or hide navigation and controls that do not belong in the client-facing document. MDN explains these print-specific tools in its guide to printing with CSS and its overview of CSS paged media.

Changing margins, orientation, or content width changes what fits on a page. Reopen print preview after each geometry change rather than assuming the same blocks will break in the same places.
Check the PDF and diagnose splits
- Open the page’s print preview in the browser and inspect the specific figure, card, table, or heading that is splitting. Save or print to PDF using the workflow your clients will use.
- Confirm the rule applies in print mode. Check that the selector matches the intended element and that a more specific print rule is not overriding it. Print styles still follow CSS specificity and precedence.
- Put the rule on the block that must stay together.
break-insidecontrols breaks inside that box; applying it only to a child or distant wrapper may not control the relevant break. - Look for forced breaks or conflicting layout constraints. Forced break values take precedence over avoidance at a break point. Remove or revise conflicting rules where appropriate.
- Recheck after changing page settings. Margins, orientation, and content width affect available space, so verify the preview again after adjusting them.
- Resize or divide content that cannot fit. If a block is taller than the page’s available area, let it split or redesign it as smaller logical units. An avoidance declaration cannot make oversized content fit.
MDN cautions that fragmentation control is a suggestion to the browser when feasible: the browser’s pagination engine may still need to break content to lay it out. See MDN’s explanation of handling content breaks. The exact result depends on the browser and print/PDF workflow, so inspect the output you intend to deliver.
