The Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition is an official anniversary controller, and Xbox announced it would be sold on its own as well as included in a limited-edition console collection. To try to secure one, check the official Microsoft Store and retailer listings for live preorder status, stock, delivery timing, and the final price before placing an order. No verified figures show how many units scalpers have bought, and no ordering method can guarantee you will beat them.
What is the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition?
Xbox describes the X25 as a translucent OG Green controller with design details inspired by the original Xbox and its 2001 launch. It has a green Xbox button, translucent top and back cases, and a translucent battery door. Xbox announced it as a 25th-anniversary product, not a leak.

- Check the Microsoft Store listing for your region. The US listing shows a price and release date, but that page is not evidence of availability in other countries. Microsoft Store US listing.
- Check retailer listings directly. Xbox’s product page notes that prices and availability may vary by retailer. Use retailer pages to confirm whether they are accepting preorders and what delivery or release timing they show: Xbox product page.
- Confirm the order details before checkout. Verify the exact controller name, region, final displayed price, preorder status, and estimated delivery or release timing. A listing or news report that preorders were live does not establish that a retailer still has stock.
Windows Central reported on October 6, 2026 that preorders were live. That is a dated secondary report; use the store pages themselves to establish current availability.

US price and release date
The Microsoft Store US listing gives the controller a price of $79.99 and a release date of October 20, 2026. These are figures on the US listing; check the page for current terms and availability before ordering. At the time the listing was observed on October 7, 2026, it appeared out of stock. That was a momentary status for the US listing, not a statement about stock at other retailers or in other regions.
Choose between the controller and the console collection
Xbox announced two ways to get the product: buy the controller separately or get it as part of a limited-edition Xbox Series X25 collection. Choose based on what you actually want, then compare the current listing details.

What a preorder can—and cannot—do about scalpers
Ordering directly from a legitimate listing while it is accepting preorders is a practical way to try to buy at the listed retail price. But the available information does not quantify scalper purchases, stock levels, sell-through, or resale markups for this controller. It also does not show that a specific retailer, alert, account setup, or checkout method prevents scalping or guarantees an order.
For a current decision, rely on the live listing rather than scarcity claims or a dated preorder report. If a page is unavailable, check another retailer or return to the official listing later; do not treat an out-of-stock result at one store as proof that the product is unavailable everywhere.
