You can play the announced native iPhone version of No Man’s Sky with a controller, or use its redesigned touch controls. The game is not yet available as of October 13, 2026: Hello Games announces an October 28 release, while Apple’s US App Store listing says “Expected Oct 29, 2026.” Check the live listing near launch for the current date, availability, and device requirements.
Check whether your iPhone is compatible
Apple’s US App Store listing requires iOS 26.0 or later and an iPhone with an A12 Bionic chip or later. It lists iPhone XS and newer. Hello Games’ announcement instead highlights iPhone 11 and newer, so the official descriptions do not state the minimum model in the same way. Check your exact iPhone on the live App Store listing before downloading.

- Check the App Store listing. Confirm the release status, region, iOS requirement, and compatibility for your exact iPhone.
- Download the native app when it becomes available. Hello Games says the iOS download is under 4GB; use the size shown in the App Store when you download.
- Decide whether to use a controller. Controller support is built in, but it is optional: Hello Games says the game also has redesigned touch controls.
Apple’s US listing describes a free beginning followed by a one-time unlock for the full game. It showed the unlock at $19.99 in the US storefront when checked; price and availability may change or differ by region.

Pair a controller with your iPhone
Hello Games confirms controller support but does not name a required controller model or publish a game-specific pairing walkthrough. Use the controller maker’s iPhone pairing instructions and make sure the controller is compatible with your iPhone and iOS version.
- Put the controller in Bluetooth pairing mode, following its manufacturer’s instructions, or connect it using a supported wired method.
- On the iPhone, open Settings > Bluetooth, turn Bluetooth on if needed, and select the controller when it appears.
- Open No Man’s Sky and try the controller in-game. If it does not connect or respond, consult the controller maker’s instructions and confirm compatibility rather than assuming a specific model is required.
Xbox documents Bluetooth and wired connections for compatible mobile devices. Xbox and PlayStation controller families, along with MFi Bluetooth controllers, are among those identified in platform guidance for mobile gaming. Those references do not establish that every model has been tested with the native No Man’s Sky app.

Controller or touch controls?
Use a physical controller if you prefer gamepad input or already own a compatible one. If you would rather not carry or pair a controller, the developer says the touch controls have been rebuilt for mobile play. Hello Games also says the game supports casting to a TV and mouse and keyboard on iPad; those are separate options, not requirements for controller play on iPhone.

Can you stream it instead?
Xbox Cloud Gaming and NVIDIA GeForce NOW offer ways to play some games on iPhone, but the available sources do not confirm No Man’s Sky in either service’s current catalog. Check the service’s live game catalog before relying on streaming for this title. Xbox notes that cloud availability depends on region, plan, and platform.

For GeForce NOW on iPhone, NVIDIA specifies iOS 15.4 or later, Safari access, and a gamepad for gameplay; it recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi. The service also requires the game to be supported and linked through an eligible store. These are streaming-service requirements, distinct from the native iOS app’s listed iOS 26.0 and A12 Bionic requirements.
