Yes. You can play iPhone audio through an Echo by pairing the phone over Bluetooth. If you use Amazon Music, you can also cast from its iOS app to an Alexa-enabled device. These methods start playback in different places: Bluetooth sends audio from your phone, while casting is controlled in the music app. To ask Alexa to play music directly, first check which services are available in your Alexa app.

Play iPhone audio on an Echo with Bluetooth
Use Bluetooth when you want the iPhone to provide the audio and the Echo to act as its speaker. Amazon’s documented setup is through the Alexa app:

- Open the Alexa app and tap Devices.
- Select the Echo, then open Device Settings.
- Tap Bluetooth Devices, then Pair A New Device.
- Choose the Echo on the iPhone when it appears as a Bluetooth device.
After the first pairing, turn on Bluetooth on the phone and say, “Pair Bluetooth” to the Echo. Amazon notes that some devices may reconnect automatically when they are in range. See Amazon’s Bluetooth pairing instructions.

Cast from the Amazon Music app on iPhone
Amazon documents casting from the Amazon Music app on iOS to Alexa-enabled devices; Fire TVs are excluded. The destination must be powered, connected to the internet, and registered to the same Amazon account used by the app.
- In Amazon Music, start from the Home Screen and open Menu > Connect to a Device, or open Now Playing and tap the casting icon.
- Select the Alexa-enabled device you want to use.
Amazon says the destination’s streaming-quality settings are respected. Its help page specifies that playing purchased music through the Amazon Music app requires an Amazon Music Prime or Amazon Music Unlimited subscription. That requirement is specifically stated for purchased music; it should not be assumed to apply to Bluetooth playback or every kind of casting. Ask Alexa to play music from a linked service
If you want to make a voice request instead of starting playback on the iPhone, the music service must be supported and linked with Alexa. Amazon says not all music services are available on Alexa-enabled devices and directs customers to the Alexa app to check availability. Do not assume a service works for every device, region, or account; Amazon’s guidance does not confirm Apple Music availability across those combinations. Check Amazon’s music-service availability page and the services shown in your app.

Set a default service for an Alexa Profile
Amazon allows default music and podcast services to be set per Alexa Profile. Its instructions require a voice ID for each profile to use profile-specific defaults; family settings apply to people without a voice ID. In the Alexa app, go to More > Settings > Preferences > Music & Podcasts, open the Profile tab, and select Your Default Services. Details are in Amazon’s Profile settings instructions.

If it does not work, check the setup for that route
- Bluetooth: Confirm the iPhone is in pairing mode for the initial setup and that you selected the Echo in the Alexa app’s Bluetooth device flow. For later connections, turn on Bluetooth and try saying, “Pair Bluetooth.”
- Amazon Music casting: Check that the Echo is powered, online, and registered to the same Amazon account as the iOS app. Start casting from the app’s device connection menu or Now Playing screen.
- Voice playback: Check the Alexa app for service availability, confirm the service is linked, and review the default service for the active profile if Alexa is choosing a different service than expected.
