1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThere are two different ways to play Door Kickers 2 on Android with a controller. A community FAQ updated in September 2026 links an Android pre-release, but the available information does not verify external-controller support, compatible models, or button mappings in that native app. The documented controller route is Steam Link: the PC game runs on a computer with Steam, while your Android phone or tablet receives the stream and a paired Bluetooth controller sends input.
If you need a setup with published controller instructions, use Steam Link. Treat the Android pre-release as experimental until its current store listing or developer documentation confirms gamepad support for your device.

The two Android routes at a glance
Choosing the correct route matters because “playing on Android” can mean either installing an Android build or streaming the Windows version. These are separate products and have different controller evidence.
| Route | Where the game runs | What is known about controllers | What you need | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Native Android pre-release | The Android app runs directly on the phone or tablet. | An Android pre-release is linked by a September 2026 community FAQ. Controller compatibility, supported models and mappings are not established. | A compatible Android device, the current developer-linked app listing and, if supported, a paired controller. | Availability can vary by device or region, and external gamepad support must be checked in the current app. |
| Steam Link streaming | The PC version runs on a computer with Steam and is streamed to Android. | Valve documents Bluetooth and Steam Controller pairing for Steam Link. The developer has published Steam Input layouts for Xbox and PlayStation controllers for the PC game. | A computer running Steam and Door Kickers 2, an Android device, Steam Link, a network and a controller. | It depends on the host computer and network. It is not a native Android installation. |
The reliable choice therefore depends on what you own. Without access to a computer running Steam, the native pre-release is the only possible route, but its controller behavior is currently unconfirmed. With a host computer, Steam Link provides the clearest documented path.

What is actually confirmed about the native Android build
The strongest available signal for native Android play is a community FAQ updated in September 2026. It labels mobile versions for iOS and Android as current developer work and links to an Android pre-release. That establishes a developer-linked Android download destination, not a guarantee that the app is publicly available to every reader.
The same material does not state that an external Bluetooth or USB controller works. It does not list tested gamepads, Android versions, button layouts, remapping options, or whether every region can download the build. Do not transfer the PC version’s Steam Input configuration to the Android app; those mappings are for the PC game running through Steam.
How to check whether the pre-release is available
- Use the Android destination linked from the current Door Kickers 2 FAQ or the developer’s current announcement.
- Open the listing while signed into the Google account and using the Android device on which you intend to play.
- Check the listed Android version, supported devices, country availability and installation status. A pre-release may be limited, changed or withdrawn.
- Read the latest description, release notes and developer comments for any explicit controller statement. Only treat a named model or mapping as confirmed support.
How to test a controller in the native app
- Pair the controller with Android using the controller maker’s normal Bluetooth or USB instructions. Android should show it as connected before you open the game.
- Launch Door Kickers 2 and inspect its Settings, Controls or Input pages. Look for a controller toggle, device selector, button-test screen or remapping menu.
- Test movement, selection, camera control, pause and any command-confirmation buttons in a safe mission or tutorial. Do not rely on a controller for a long session until every essential action responds.
- If the game offers no gamepad option or ignores input, reconnect the controller, restart the app and check whether the listing identifies the build as a pre-release. The absence of a response is not evidence that a particular controller is defective.
No authoritative instructions currently confirm native-build gamepad support. If the app accepts touch input but not the controller, use touch controls or move to the Steam Link method rather than assuming that a PC layout will work.
Native Android checks before you commit to it
- Availability: The FAQ link is a community reference, so verify that the current store destination still serves your device and region.
- Input: Look for an explicit controller statement in the app listing or developer documentation; none is established by the available FAQ.
- Mappings: Do not expect Xbox or PlayStation Steam Input layouts to appear in the Android app.
- Updates: A pre-release can change controls or compatibility between versions. Recheck the listing after an update.
How to play the PC version through Steam Link
Steam Link is the documented controller route. Valve describes it as an Android app that pairs a Bluetooth controller or Steam Controller, connects to a computer running Steam and plays your existing Steam games. The game remains installed and executed on the host computer; Android acts as the display and input endpoint.

- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
Requirements
- A computer with Steam installed and Door Kickers 2 installed in its Steam library.
- Steam running on that computer while you play.
- An Android phone or tablet with the Steam Link app installed.
- A Bluetooth controller or Steam Controller paired with Android. A controller that is not on Valve’s official list may still work, but it is not officially supported by that list.
- The host computer and Android device connected to the same local network.
- A 5 GHz wireless router is recommended by Steam. For phones and tablets, Valve recommends connecting the host computer to that router by Ethernet.
These requirements describe streaming. They do not install the PC game on Android, and they do not establish controller compatibility for the native Android pre-release.
Step 1: Prepare the host computer
- Install Door Kickers 2 in Steam and allow Steam to finish any updates.
- Connect the computer to your home network. An Ethernet connection to the router is Valve’s recommendation when the Android device uses Wi-Fi.
- Start Steam and leave it running. Sign in to the account that owns the game.
- Close bandwidth-heavy downloads or video streams on the same network while testing. This is a practical way to reduce competition for the stream; it does not change the game’s controller support.
Step 2: Install and open Steam Link on Android
- Install the official Steam Link app from Google Play on the phone or tablet.
- Connect the Android device to the same network as the host computer. Steam’s setup guidance specifically recommends a 5 GHz router.
- Open Steam Link and follow its on-screen computer-discovery and pairing process. Select the computer running Steam when it appears.
- If Steam Link displays a pairing code, enter it in the Steam client on the host computer as instructed by the app.
Step 3: Pair the controller
- Put the Bluetooth controller into pairing mode according to its manufacturer’s instructions.
- On Android, open Bluetooth settings, select the controller and wait for the status to show connected.
- Return to Steam Link and use its controller-detection or test screen. If Steam Link asks which input device to use, select the paired controller.
- Keep the controller close to the Android device during the first test. Once Steam Link recognizes it, open the Steam library shown in the app.
Valve’s supported-input guidance lists the Steam Controller, Xbox One S Controller, DualShock 4 on Android 9.0 or newer, Razer Kishi and Raiju Mobile. Other controllers may work without being officially supported. The list is a Steam Link platform statement; it does not certify those devices for the native Android build.
Step 4: Start Door Kickers 2
- From Steam Link’s library view, select Door Kickers 2.
- Start the game and wait for the PC desktop or game image to appear on Android.
- Open the game’s control configuration if you need to inspect the active layout. If Steam displays an input-layout prompt, choose the official Xbox or PlayStation Steam Input configuration supplied for the PC game.
- Test selecting units, issuing a command, changing the camera view, pausing and confirming a choice before starting a serious mission.
Steam Input translates controller actions for the PC version. It is not native gamepad support inside an Android app. The developer has described the PC game as having official Steam Input configurations for Xbox and PlayStation controllers, while also saying that the game’s requirements call for a mouse with three buttons and that its control scheme is harder to play on a controller.
Controller expectations for Door Kickers 2
Door Kickers 2 was designed around mouse-oriented PC interaction. In a February 10, 2025 Steam Community response, developer Pintea wrote: “We have official steam input configurations for xbox/ps controllers. Not native, but at least you can do everything you need in the game.” In another response, the developer wrote: “No native support, but there is an official XBOX controller config.”

The developer also stated: “The game’s requirements state a mouse with 3 buttons is needed. Due to the game’s control scheme it’s much harder to play on a controller, it is what it is.” Those comments refer to the PC game. They explain why Steam Input is a compatibility layer rather than evidence that the game was designed around a conventional gamepad.
What the Steam Input layout changes
- It assigns controller buttons and sticks to the PC actions expected by the game.
- It can make the essential game actions reachable without a physical mouse.
- It does not turn the PC interface into a purpose-built console layout.
- The available layout may expose cursor movement or modifier actions that feel less direct than touch or mouse input.
If a button appears to do nothing, open the Steam Input layout for the running game and inspect the assigned action rather than changing Android Bluetooth settings first. A different official layout may be available for Xbox and PlayStation-style inputs.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Network setup and stream quality
Streaming adds the local network to the list of things that must work. Steam recommends a 5 GHz wireless router, and its setup guidance recommends Ethernet for the host computer when the Android device connects over Wi-Fi. Keep both devices on the same home network; a mobile-data connection is not the same setup as local Steam Link pairing.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →If Steam Link cannot find the computer
- Confirm that Steam is open and signed in on the host computer.
- Check that Android and the computer are connected to the same router or access point, not separate guest and main networks.
- Move the Android device to the 5 GHz network if your router presents separate bands.
- Restart Steam Link and, if necessary, Steam after confirming that the game is installed.
- Temporarily check firewall prompts on the host computer and allow Steam to communicate on the private home network.
If the picture is unstable or controls feel delayed
- Use Ethernet for the host computer as Valve recommends.
- Stay within reliable 5 GHz Wi-Fi range and avoid testing from a location where the signal repeatedly drops.
- Pause large downloads and other high-bandwidth activity on the network.
- Close unnecessary applications on the host computer so Steam is not competing with another demanding task.
- Use Steam Link’s own connection or performance information to distinguish a network problem from a controller-mapping problem.
No latency figure is established here, so do not assume that every phone, router or controller will feel identical. The practical goal is a stable local connection and a layout that exposes every action you need.

Troubleshooting controller problems
The native Android app does not respond to a controller
First verify that Android itself shows the controller as connected. Then check the game’s settings and the current app listing for an explicit gamepad statement. If neither provides one, native support remains unconfirmed. Steam Input configurations for the PC version cannot be applied to the native app.
Steam Link sees the controller but Door Kickers 2 does not
Confirm that the controller is selected as the active Steam Input device and that the game is being launched through Steam Link. Open the game’s controller layout and select the official Xbox or PlayStation configuration if it is offered. Test the layout in a low-risk section before changing multiple bindings.
The controller connects to Android but Steam Link will not use it
Disconnect and re-pair it in Android Bluetooth settings, then reopen Steam Link. If you are using a device outside Valve’s listed inputs, try a controller on the published list to separate a general pairing issue from unsupported hardware. The list is not a promise of native Android compatibility.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The game opens, but cursor or command actions are awkward
This is consistent with the PC game’s mouse-oriented design. Inspect the Steam Input layout for cursor movement, selection, confirmation and modifier actions. A controller can provide the required actions through the official configuration, but it will not reproduce the precision or interaction model of a three-button mouse in every situation.
Which route should you choose?
| Your situation | Best starting point | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| You own the PC game and have a computer that can run Steam. | Steam Link. | It has documented Android pairing steps and developer-described Steam Input layouts. |
| You do not have a host computer. | Check the native Android pre-release. | It may run directly on Android, but controller support and availability must be verified in the current listing. |
| You need a controller before installing anything. | Choose from Valve’s listed Steam Link inputs where possible. | The published list gives the clearest platform-level compatibility starting point for streamed play. |
| You expect a console-style native gamepad interface. | Wait for explicit native-build documentation or test the pre-release first. | The PC game’s official controller option is a Steam Input configuration, not native gamepad support. |
For the least uncertainty, use a computer connected by Ethernet to a 5 GHz router, pair a supported Bluetooth controller with Android, and launch the PC game through Steam Link. For a direct install, verify the Android pre-release’s current availability and test input in the app before assuming a controller will work.
