There is no need to treat the game like a checklist for a future film. The live-action announcement and the August 2025 status update do not identify a plot, name game events that viewers must know, or set a play order. Those rewards are extras, not a stated requirement for playing V’s story. What the sales figures do—and do not—tell you
CD PROJEKT reported in its October 5, 2023 Investor Day highlights that the Cyberpunk 2077 base game had sold over 25 million copies and that Phantom Liberty had surpassed 3 million copies sold. Those figures help establish the scale of the game and expansion at that point in time. They are dated company-reported totals, not current 2026 sales figures, and they do not indicate how many people must play either product before the live-action project.
