To keep one fireplace video playing on an Android TV box, open it in the YouTube app and turn on Repeat for the current video. Autoplay is different: it starts another related video when the current one ends. For longer playback, also check the box’s screensaver and Energy Saver settings, since menus and behavior vary by device.
Loop one fireplace video in YouTube
- Install YouTube if needed. On the box, open the Google Play Store, search for YouTube, and install it. YouTube is already available on most smart TVs and streaming devices, but the Play Store is the documented installation route for Android TV and Google TV. See YouTube’s installation instructions.
- Start a video. Open YouTube, search for a fireplace video, and begin playback. Choose a video you have permission to watch and that is appropriate to leave playing in your setting.
- Turn on Repeat. While the video is playing, press Down on the remote to show the playback controls, then select Repeat. You can also look for Repeat under Settings while watching. Use the single-video Repeat option to repeat the current clip. YouTube also offers a separate Repeat • Playlist mode for a playlist. The exact control presentation may vary with the app version. See YouTube’s instructions for looping videos and playlists.
- Confirm it repeats. Let the video reach its end once and check that it starts again. If a different video begins, revisit the playback controls and make sure Repeat—not Autoplay—is enabled.
Keep the box and display from interrupting playback
Android TV and Google TV include Ambient Mode, a built-in screensaver. Android Developers describes the system entering Ambient Mode after 10 minutes of user inactivity, then potentially entering Energy Saver mode according to the device’s setting. That is a platform behavior, not a guaranteed total playback timeout. Media apps may prevent Ambient Mode during active playback; Android’s guidance says video apps should do so for user-initiated playback, but not when playback has stopped or paused. Actual behavior depends on the app, box, and TV.
If the picture disappears, the box goes idle, or playback stops, inspect the Android TV box’s screensaver and Energy Saver options. Google says screensaver options differ by device; the documented Android TV settings include choosing Backdrop, but there is no universal menu path or guaranteed “never sleep” setting. The television may have separate power or screen settings as well. If your menus do not match, check the box maker’s instructions. See Android’s Ambient Mode guidance and Google’s screen saver help.
Why Autoplay is not the repeat setting
Autoplay starts another related video after the current video ends; it does not mean “repeat this clip.” Its TV-app setting is managed in YouTube Settings. For a single fireplace video, use Repeat. If you want different videos in sequence, make a playlist and use the playlist repeat mode instead. See YouTube’s Autoplay help.

Would a fireplace app work better?
A dedicated ambience app may offer fireplace-specific scenes or screensaver features, but its compatibility and paid features should be checked in Google Play on your device before relying on it. Store descriptions are developer-provided claims, not guarantees of continuous playback on every Android TV box.
- Relaxing Fireplace – Meditate: its Google Play listing describes HD and 4K fireplace ambience and a screensaver mode that can run continuously. The listing showed an update dated July 28, 2026. Check the current listing for device compatibility and availability: Google Play listing.
- Fireplace Ambiance: its listing describes more than 120 scenes, screensaver use, and in-app purchases. The listing says loop, mute, and sleep-timer features require a subscription. It showed an update dated July 30, 2026. Verify current access and pricing in Google Play: Google Play listing.
For a straightforward single clip, YouTube’s Repeat control avoids choosing a separate app. A dedicated app may suit you if you want its scene library or screensaver features and confirm it works on your box.

Troubleshoot playback that stops or changes
- A related video plays instead: Autoplay is active or Repeat is off. Open the playback controls and select Repeat for the current video.
- The screen goes dark or the box becomes idle: check both the box’s screensaver and Energy Saver settings, plus the TV’s own power settings. Names and available options vary by device.
- The video pauses or stops: resume playback and check whether the app or device entered an idle state. Active-playback behavior is app- and device-dependent; do not assume that a setting available on one Android TV box exists on another.
- You cannot find Repeat: press Down during playback and inspect the controls or Settings. If your app interface differs, consult YouTube’s loop instructions for the TV app.
- A dedicated app is unavailable or its loop feature is locked: check that app’s current Google Play listing for compatibility and subscription requirements, or use YouTube’s Repeat control.
