To keep a website in Firefox’s desktop tab strip, open it, right-click its tab (or Control-click on macOS), and select Pin Tab. Firefox moves it to the left side of the tab strip. If you mean a New Tab tile, an Android home-screen shortcut, or the page Firefox opens at startup, use a different setting.
Keep an open site in the desktop tab strip
- Open the website in a tab.
- Right-click the tab. On macOS, Control-click it.
- Select Pin Tab.
The pinned tab moves to the left side of the tab strip, becomes compact, and displays the site icon instead of its title. It has no close button and reopens as pinned when Firefox starts. Mozilla also notes that links to other websites opened from a pinned tab open in a new tab. To reverse the setting, open the pinned tab’s context menu and choose Unpin Tab. Pin several tabs together
Select the tabs with Ctrl-click, or Command-click on macOS. Open the context menu for one of the selected tabs and choose Pin Tabs. Mozilla Support: Use tabs to organize lots of websites

If you want a tile on Firefox’s New Tab page rather than a tab that stays open, hover over the desired Shortcut tile, open its three-dot menu, and select Pin. A pin icon marks the tile. Use Unpin in the same menu to remove the pin. This affects a New Tab shortcut, not the tab strip.

If the site does not already appear as a tile, choose Add Shortcut on the New Tab page and enter a title and URL. Mozilla Support: Customize items on your Firefox New Tab page
Add a shortcut on Firefox for Android
- Visit the website in Firefox.
- Tap the three-dot menu and choose Add to shortcuts.
The site then appears among Firefox home-screen shortcuts when you open a new tab. To remove it, touch and hold the shortcut and tap Remove. Removing it from the Home page does not remove it from bookmarks or browsing history. Android options can vary by Firefox version, device, and region. Make a site open at startup instead
A pinned tab is not the same as setting a homepage. In Firefox desktop settings, go to Home and select Custom URLs… under Homepage and new windows. Alternatively, drag the desired tab onto the toolbar’s Home button. These options set the page used by the Home button or new windows; they do not pin a tab. Mozilla Support: How to set the home page
