Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Update each MikroTik router to the fixed release for its existing RouterOS branch, then verify the installed version and review SSH exposure, logs, and configuration. MikroTik says its default configuration blocks SSH from the internet and that most configurations are not at risk, but recommends updating and checking devices rather than assuming a router is safe.
Which RouterOS version fixes CVE-2026-67276?
Use the fixed version for the branch the router already runs. The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security’s September 10, 2026 alert identifies earlier releases in these branches as affected and lists the following fixes:

| RouterOS branch | Fixed release |
|---|---|
| 6.x | 6.49.21 |
| 7.x Long-Term | 7.23.4 |
| 7.x Stable | 7.24.2 |
| Development | 7.25 beta 3 |
These are branch-specific targets, not a recommendation to switch release channels. Follow MikroTik’s supported upgrade path for the router and its current branch. MikroTik’s September 3 notice lists all four releases as containing the fix and says an available upgrade should appear under Check for updates. How to patch a MikroTik router
- Check the current version and channel. In RouterOS, open Check for updates and note the installed version and release channel. Check each appliance individually; do not assume a group of routers runs the same branch.
- Select the matching fixed release. Compare the device’s branch and version with the table above. If its branch is unclear or the offered upgrade differs from the listed target, consult MikroTik’s release guidance rather than switching channels casually.
- Install the upgrade offered for that branch. Use the RouterOS update mechanism and follow the device’s normal upgrade procedure. MikroTik says the update should be visible under Check for updates.
- Verify after installation. Recheck the installed RouterOS version and confirm it is at or beyond the fixed release for that branch. The Canadian alert recommends verifying the updated version on each appliance.
Prioritize devices with SSH reachable from the internet, while still inventorying and updating the rest. The alert recommends identifying current software versions and prioritizing internet-exposed SSH systems. Canadian Centre for Cyber Security alert AL26-020.

What the SSH authentication bypass means
CVE-2026-67276 is an SSH authentication bypass involving improper verification of a cryptographic signature. The Canadian alert says an attacker may be able to open an SSH command channel as a target user without that user’s private key. The GitHub Advisory Database describes the reported technical issue more specifically: RouterOS compared an SSH key’s type and RSA modulus when matching it to a user’s authorized key, but omitted the exponent; an attacker who knew an authorized RSA modulus could reportedly provide a key with exponent one and forge a valid signature. This is the advisory’s technical account, not evidence that a particular router has been attacked. The advisory gives the vulnerability a CVSS 4.0 base score of 9.2 and labels it critical. Canadian Centre for Cyber Security alert AL26-020; GitHub Advisory Database GHSA-j9wg-77fw-f22f.
The related CVEs are distinct issues, not alternate names for this SSH bypass: the Canadian alert describes CVE-2026-86060 as argument injection that may allow remote privilege escalation, and CVE-2026-67277 as a missing-authentication-for-critical-function issue that may expose potentially sensitive information. The alert says CISA added those two related CVEs to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on September 10, 2026; that statement does not say CVE-2026-67276 was added. Check whether SSH is exposed
MikroTik says its default configuration blocks SSH from the internet, but a manual firewall or service change may have opened it. Check the router’s actual configuration and the perimeter firewall or other network controls; do not infer exposure from the default alone. MikroTik’s instruction is direct: “Make sure SSH is not open to any untrusted networks.”
- Restrict SSH access to trusted IP addresses, or make it available only through a strong VPN such as WireGuard.
- Avoid exposing management ports to untrusted networks.
- Review both the router and upstream network policy so an internet-facing rule elsewhere does not defeat a local restriction.
What to inspect after updating
Review logs and network activity
Check authentication logs and network activity for unauthorized access, as recommended by the Canadian alert. Pay particular attention to unexpected SSH logins or activity that does not match your administrators’ work. Canadian Centre for Cyber Security alert AL26-020.
Look for MikroTik’s Flagged status
MikroTik says RouterOS performs a compromise check and writes a critical Flagged status to the log if it identifies a compromised device. If you see that entry, follow MikroTik’s instructions for Flagged status. MikroTik’s security notice; MikroTik Flagged status instructions.
Inspect configuration even without a flag
Review users, scripts, and other configuration for entries you do not recognize. MikroTik explicitly recommends this check even when a device is not in Flagged state; the absence of a Flagged entry is not proof that the router is clean. MikroTik’s security notice.
