To pair Sennheiser headphones or earbuds, put the exact model into Bluetooth pairing mode, then choose its regular headphone name in your phone, tablet, or computer’s Bluetooth settings. Pairing controls vary by model, so check the product name and its matching manual rather than assuming one button sequence works for every Sennheiser device.
Pair Sennheiser headphones or earbuds with a phone, tablet, or computer
- Check the model and charge it. Find the model name on the headphones, earbuds, charging case, or in the product’s app. Make sure the product has enough charge.
- Clear an old pairing if needed. In the source device’s Bluetooth settings, remove or forget existing entries for these headphones, including duplicate entries or one ending in “-LE.”
- Enter pairing mode. Follow the instructions for your exact model. Being powered on does not necessarily mean the product is discoverable; use the model’s manual for the pairing-mode control and confirmation.
- Select the headphone name. Open Bluetooth settings, scan for available devices if necessary, and tap or click the regular Sennheiser headphone or earbud name. If prompted for a PIN, use the code specified in that model’s manual.
- Confirm the connection and test audio. Look for a connected status, then play audio. If you want to use Smart Control app features, first establish and test the audio connection, then open the app and follow its connection prompts.
Sennheiser’s pairing support procedure also recommends checking the battery, removing old pairings, using the product-specific manual, selecting the device from the available list, and testing playback.

HD 450BT: exact pairing steps
For the Sennheiser HD 450BT, the instruction manual gives this model-specific sequence:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Switch the headphones off and keep them within 20 cm of the phone, tablet, or computer.
- Hold the power button for four seconds. The LED flashes red and blue to show that the headphones are in pairing mode.
- Turn on Bluetooth on the source device, scan for available devices, and select “HD 450BT.”
- If prompted, enter PIN “0000.” A successful connection is confirmed by the voice prompt “Connected” and three blue LED flashes.
If no connection is made within five minutes, pairing mode ends and the headphones switch to standby. Start the sequence again to pair them. These controls and confirmations apply to the HD 450BT; other Sennheiser models may use different steps. See the Sennheiser HD 450BT Instruction Manual.

What “-LE” means in Bluetooth settings
Bluetooth Classic is the connection used for headphone audio. Bluetooth LE is a separate connection that Sennheiser Smart Control uses; it is not the same as Bluetooth LE Audio. If a device list shows an entry ending in “-LE,” connecting to that entry alone may not connect the headphones for ordinary sound. Choose the regular headphone name first and test playback, then connect Smart Control if you need its features. Sennheiser explains the distinction in its support article on the meaning of “-LE”.
Smart Control will not connect
If audio works but Smart Control does not connect, reset the app and Bluetooth pairing in this order:

- In Smart Control, choose “Forget the device.”
- In your phone’s Bluetooth settings, remove the headphone entries.
- Pair the regular audio connection again and confirm that playback works.
- Reopen Smart Control and follow its prompts to establish the app’s LE connection.
If that sequence fails, power-cycle both the source device and the headphones, then try again. Sennheiser’s Smart Control app pairing guidance describes this reconnection process.
Connected, but there is no sound
- Check that the headphones are charged and show as connected in the source device’s Bluetooth menu.
- Select the headphones as the active audio output. A Bluetooth connection does not guarantee that the device is sending sound to them.
- Raise both the source-device volume and the headphone volume.
- Test nearby—within about 10 meters—and avoid walls or large obstacles.
- Try another phone, tablet, or computer. If audio works there, the issue is more likely with the original source device or its settings.
- If only an “-LE” entry is connected, remove the headphone entries and pair the regular audio connection instead.
Consider a factory reset only after these checks. Sennheiser’s no-sound support guidance describes using Smart Control’s device settings for a reset, then removing old pairings before pairing again.

Why your phone cannot find Sennheiser earbuds
The earbuds may be powered on but not in pairing mode, or your phone may have a stale pairing saved. Check that the earbuds are charged, remove old entries from the phone’s Bluetooth settings, and use the exact model’s manual to enter pairing mode. Then scan again and select the regular device name. The correct control depends on the model, so do not apply the HD 450BT power-button sequence to earbuds unless their own manual specifies it.
