Put your headphones into their Bluetooth pairing mode, then on your Galaxy phone go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth, turn Bluetooth on if needed, and select the headphones. Tap Pair or follow the prompt. Headphone controls and Galaxy menus can differ by model and software version, so use the headphone manual if the device does not appear.

Put the headphones into pairing mode
Turn them on and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to make them discoverable. The button, touch control, or charging-case procedure varies by headphone model. Simply powering on may not be enough: Samsung says a Galaxy phone cannot detect or connect to a Bluetooth device that is not in pairing mode. Open Bluetooth settings
On the phone, go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth and switch Bluetooth on if it is off. Samsung documents this as the direct pairing route; exact screen labels may vary by Galaxy model, carrier, and software version. Samsung’s pairing guide also describes using Bluetooth controls in Quick settings on supported screens.

Select the headphones and confirm
Choose the headphone name from the available-device list. Tap Pair or accept the phone’s on-screen prompt. If a PIN or another confirmation is requested, follow the prompt and the accessory’s instructions; there is no single PIN that applies to every headset. Samsung notes that some Bluetooth devices may require a manufacturer support app.

Check the connection
Look for the headphones in the phone’s paired or connected devices. Once paired, you can select the saved device from Bluetooth settings if it is not connected the next time you want to use it. The menu for managing paired devices is described in Samsung’s Galaxy connection-options guide.
If the headphones do not appear
- Check pairing mode: Make sure the headphones are on, sufficiently charged, and in the specific Bluetooth pairing mode described in their manual. Pairing steps differ among accessories.
- Try a different entry point: Quick settings may provide Bluetooth controls on your Galaxy. Alternatively, SmartThings can discover a Bluetooth device in pairing mode: open Devices > Add > Scan nearby. SmartThings is optional; ordinary pairing can be completed through Settings. See Samsung’s SmartThings instructions.
- Check for accessory-specific setup: If the phone still cannot find the headset, consult its manual or manufacturer support app guidance. Samsung’s general instructions note that some devices have their own setup requirements.
If previously paired headphones will not reconnect
- On the Galaxy phone, open Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
- Open the settings for the saved headphone device and choose Unpair.
- Put the headphones back into pairing mode, then select them from the available-device list and pair again.
If pairing again does not help, restart both the phone and headphones and check for software updates. Samsung’s Bluetooth reset option is a more disruptive step: resetting Wi-Fi/Bluetooth settings removes saved connection information, so you may need to pair other devices again. Use it only after simpler troubleshooting.

If the headphones connect but a feature does not work
Check the paired device’s available settings and permissions, then follow the headphone maker’s guidance. For example, Samsung’s UK support guide advises checking whether call use is enabled for a headset. Available options depend on the accessory and phone software. Samsung’s UK headset guide was updated on 13 June 2022; current menus may differ.

Do not apply one headphone’s controls to another. Samsung documents different pairing procedures across Galaxy Buds generations; for example, its current troubleshooting guide says Buds3 and Buds3 Pro use the case pairing button, while other generations use different procedures. For third-party headphones, use that manufacturer’s instructions.
