To pair AirPods with a Samsung TV, put the AirPods in Bluetooth pairing mode, open the TV’s Bluetooth audio device list, and select them. This works only if the TV supports Bluetooth audio; menu names and compatibility vary by model.
Check whether your Samsung TV supports Bluetooth audio
Look for a Bluetooth audio option in the TV’s settings or check the specifications or manual for your exact model. Samsung notes that compatibility varies and that some headphones designed only for mobile devices may not pair with a TV. AirPods can work as a Bluetooth headset with non-Apple devices, as Apple Support explains, but that does not guarantee compatibility with every Samsung TV.

Put your AirPods in pairing mode
The procedure depends on the AirPods model. For AirPods (1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation) and AirPods Pro (1st or 2nd generation), place both earbuds in the case and open the lid, then press and hold the setup button on the back until the status light flashes white. For AirPods Max, press and hold the listening-mode button until the light flashes white. Some newer case designs use a double-tap on the front of the case to make the light flash white. Follow the directions for your specific model in Apple’s pairing instructions.

Find the TV’s Bluetooth device list and connect
- Open the audio output settings. On many Samsung TVs, go to Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Bluetooth Speaker List. Other models may place the list under Connections > Bluetooth Devices or an older Sound/Speaker Settings menu. The route varies by model year and software; Samsung lists year-specific examples in its Bluetooth audio setup guide.
- Scan for AirPods. Keep the AirPods in pairing mode while the TV scans. Select them when they appear in the available-device list.
- Confirm the connection. Choose Pair or Connect if prompted. Samsung says a connected device should appear as connected in the list; see its TV Bluetooth connection instructions.
- Set the sound output. If audio still comes from the TV speakers, go to Sound Output and select the AirPods or Bluetooth device. Samsung notes that sound routes to the selected Bluetooth device; on some models, turning off the connected headphones returns sound to the TV speakers. See Samsung’s headphone guidance.
If the AirPods do not appear or connect
- Check that Bluetooth audio is supported. If the TV has no Bluetooth audio device list, consult its manual or specifications. The feature is not present on every model.
- Restart pairing mode. Confirm the AirPods’ light is flashing white for the pairing procedures described by Apple, then scan again or refresh the TV’s list if that option appears.
- Bring the devices closer. Distance, walls, furniture, and radio interference can weaken a Bluetooth connection. Samsung also notes that headphones may disconnect when they are too far from the TV.
- Choose the AirPods as the output. A successful pairing does not necessarily mean the TV has switched its sound output; select the Bluetooth device under Sound Output.
- Try a TV software update. If the connection still fails, check for available TV software updates and retry.
Samsung warns that Bluetooth audio can have lip-sync errors. Its support information does not establish a measured latency or sound-quality result for AirPods paired with particular TV models, so performance should not be assumed to be identical across setups. If your TV has no Bluetooth audio
A Bluetooth transmitter may be an option if the TV has a compatible 3.5 mm headphone output or standard left/right AUX outputs. Check the TV’s available ports and confirm the transmitter supports the relevant connection and Bluetooth transmit mode before relying on it. Samsung describes this as a possible workaround, not a universal fit; see its connection guide.

Samsung support guidance differs on how many Bluetooth audio devices can be used simultaneously: some guidance describes one device at a time, while other guidance says certain models manufactured from 2022 can connect two.
