Open Control Center on your iPhone 13
- Wake the iPhone or go to the screen you are using.
- Place a finger at the top-right corner of the display.
- Swipe down. Control Center appears. Apple gives the same gesture for iPhones with Face ID in its Control Center guide.
You can use this gesture from the Lock Screen too. To close Control Center, swipe up from the bottom center of the screen.

Why does Notification Center open instead?
A swipe that begins too close to the top center can open Notification Center on iPhone X and later. Try again, starting at the top-right corner rather than the center; Apple explains the distinction in its Control Center access instructions.
What you can do in Control Center
Control Center provides quick access to controls such as Airplane Mode, Do Not Disturb, flashlight, volume and screen brightness. Touch and hold many controls to reveal additional options. The controls available can vary with iOS version and device settings.

In iOS 18 and later, swipe up or down along the top-right edge while Control Center is open to move among groups, including Music, Home devices, and iPhone features such as AirDrop or Satellite. Apple documents this navigation in its Control Center instructions; the available groups depend on the device and software.
Add, rearrange or remove controls
Apple’s iPhone guide describes customizing controls from Control Center: open it, tap the Add button, then choose Add a Control and select an item from the gallery. The editing interface also supports rearranging, removing and resizing controls. Exact interface details may differ by installed iOS version. Open it from the Lock Screen
Use the same top-right swipe while the iPhone is locked; you do not need to unlock the phone first. Which features are available from the Lock Screen can depend on your settings. Apple explains Lock Screen access in its iPhone Lock Screen guide.
