Start at Home
Home is the landing page for your Workday account. Depending on how your employer configured it, it may show personalized cards, suggested tasks, announcements, or actions. The page can look different for coworkers because content may be tailored to roles and permissions.

The application header remains available as you move through Workday. From it, you can reach the main navigation and account controls described in Workday’s education documentation.

Open apps and shortcuts from global navigation
Open the navigation menu or sidebar to see the applications and saved shortcuts available to you. Depending on the interface, the menu may be expanded as a sidebar or collapsed behind a menu control. It can include pinned apps and saved items; the exact layout and entries depend on your experience and configuration.

If you do not see a particular app in the menu, try searching for the task you need. The app or task may not be available to your account.
Find a task or report with Search
Search for the specific task, report, person, or business object by name or purpose. Workday Search may show suggestions or group results into categories, but its layout and available categories are not universal. Preferences and tenant configuration can affect the experience, and results are restricted by your permissions.

- Enter a specific name or phrase in Search, such as the task or report you need.
- Review the suggestions or results and, if available, choose a relevant category to narrow them.
- Open the matching result. If it is missing, check your search terms and access with your employer’s guidance.
Workday’s navigation and Home guidance describes Search as a way to locate tasks, reports, and other items; your organization’s setup determines the precise result experience.
Review pending actions in My Tasks or Inbox
Use My Tasks to review incomplete action items and return to requests that still need your attention. In some experiences, the task area may be labelled or presented differently. Workday’s user navigation material describes this area as a destination for pending tasks.

Open your profile for account options
Select your profile or avatar to open user options. In the setup covered by Workday’s Administrator Guide, search preferences are under My Account in the profile area. That route may differ in another tenant, so use the labels available in your account or your employer’s instructions.

If an app, result, or task is missing
- Search with a more specific task or report name, and try a relevant category if one is available.
- Check your employer’s internal Workday instructions; organizations can configure Home, navigation, and available features differently.
- If the item remains unavailable or you need help with a personal employee task, contact your HR or IT team or Workday administrator. Workday’s user documentation directs employees to employer guidance or an administrator for personal task questions.
