How to Multistream a Zoom Meeting to YouTube

Enable YouTube in Zoom’s meeting livestream settings, or use the Live Streaming app to multistream to up to three services.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You can send a Zoom meeting to YouTube by enabling meeting livestreaming in the Zoom web portal and selecting YouTube as an allowed destination. To send the same meeting to YouTube and other services at once, use Zoom’s Live Streaming app, which supports up to three destinations simultaneously. Account settings and feature availability determine which controls you see.

Choose the right Zoom streaming method

Method Destinations Setup Important limit
Zoom meeting livestreaming setting YouTube, if enabled for your account Enable livestreaming and allow YouTube in the Zoom web portal An account owner or administrator may control availability
Zoom Live Streaming app Up to three services simultaneously, including YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, or a custom RTMP destination Connect channels in advance; configure custom RTMP details when needed Only the host can start the streams. App moderation is supported for YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch, not custom RTMP destinations.

For YouTube alone, the direct meeting livestreaming option is the simpler route when it is available. For a simultaneous broadcast to multiple destinations, the Live Streaming app is Zoom’s documented option. Zoom describes its app as supporting up to three services simultaneously in Using the Zoom Live Streaming app.

Enable YouTube livestreaming in Zoom

  1. Open the Zoom web portal. Sign in to the account used to host the meeting.
  2. Check the meeting livestreaming setting. Open Meeting settings and look for “Allow livestreaming of meetings.” Make sure YouTube is selected among the allowed services. Zoom’s meeting livestreaming settings guidance describes this account-level control.
  3. Ask an administrator if the setting is locked or missing. Account owners or administrators control account-wide availability; a participant or regular user may not be able to change a locked setting.
  4. Start the meeting as host and use the available livestream control. The exact control labels can change, and the researched Zoom guidance does not establish current YouTube Studio navigation or channel eligibility. Check YouTube’s official help for those channel-side requirements.

Multistream the meeting with Zoom Live Streaming

  1. Install or open the Zoom Live Streaming app. Check that it is available to your account and current Zoom setup.
  2. Connect destinations before the meeting. The app supports connecting YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch channels. Zoom recommends configuring and authenticating channels in advance to avoid setup delays during the meeting.
  3. Add a custom destination only if needed. For another service, choose the custom RTMP route and obtain the endpoint details directly from that receiving platform.
  4. Begin the meeting and have the host start the streams. Participants may open the app, but Zoom specifies that only the host can initiate streams for the current meeting.
  5. Check each destination separately. Confirm that the intended stream is live on each service’s viewing page; custom RTMP destinations do not have the app’s YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch moderation support.

Zoom’s app information and supported destinations are described in Using the Zoom Live Streaming app.

Set up a custom RTMP destination

When the receiving service is not one of the app’s built-in channel connections, it must provide the stream endpoint values. Do not guess or reuse credentials from another service.

  1. In the receiving platform, locate its current live-stream setup details.
  2. Copy the RTMP URL, stream key, and public stream-page URL supplied for that destination.
  3. Enter those values in Zoom’s custom RTMP configuration. Zoom’s Live Streaming app guide covers the app workflow; its custom livestreaming instructions describe the relevant endpoint fields.
  4. Keep the stream key private. If it is exposed, replace it through the receiving service rather than continuing to use a compromised key.

Check these details before going live

  • Permissions: Confirm livestreaming is allowed for the host’s Zoom account and that YouTube is among the permitted services.
  • Credentials: Authenticate channel connections in advance, or use only the RTMP URL, key, and viewing-page URL provided by the custom destination.
  • Host control: Arrange for the meeting host—not just a participant—to start the app’s streams.
  • Destination count: The app supports up to three simultaneous services, not an unlimited number.
  • Moderation: Do not assume Zoom’s app moderation features apply to a custom RTMP service; Zoom identifies moderation support for YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch only.
  • YouTube-side status: Zoom’s settings do not establish whether a particular YouTube channel is eligible or already enabled for live streaming. Verify those points with YouTube’s current official help.

Troubleshoot common setup problems

Problem Likely cause What to do
You cannot find or change “Allow livestreaming of meetings” The feature may be unavailable to your account or controlled by an administrator. Ask the Zoom account owner or administrator to check the account-wide meeting settings.
YouTube is not available as a destination YouTube may not be selected in the allowed services, or the account may not expose the feature. Check the web-portal setting and ask an administrator if it is locked. Separately confirm the channel’s live-stream status with YouTube.
A participant can open the Live Streaming app but cannot start the stream Zoom says only the host can initiate streams for the meeting. Have the host start the stream from the app.
A custom RTMP stream fails to connect The endpoint URL, stream key, or stream-page URL may be missing or incorrect. Copy the current values from the receiving service and re-enter them. Do not substitute credentials from another platform.
Setup takes too long at meeting time Destinations may not have been authenticated or configured beforehand. Connect built-in channels and prepare any custom RTMP details before the meeting.
You expect Zoom app moderation on a custom destination The documented app moderation support covers YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch, not custom RTMP services. Use the receiving platform’s own moderation controls.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is for a different job: keeping uploaded videos or a playlist live on YouTube around the clock. It does not relay a live Zoom meeting or go live from a camera, so use Zoom’s methods above when you need to broadcast the meeting itself.

For a prerecorded YouTube stream, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video in the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and offers a first day free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
