To transfer your Straight Talk number to Verizon, keep the Straight Talk line active, get its account number and one-time Number Transfer PIN, then submit the port through Verizon’s number-transfer or activation flow. Don’t cancel Straight Talk first: Verizon says the old service stays active while the transfer is in progress and disconnects automatically when the number moves.
Before you start: keep the number active
Do not cancel Straight Talk or let the line lapse before Verizon completes the port. Straight Talk says a number must be active to transfer it and warns that a number may be lost after more than 30 days of inactive service. If the line is already inactive, contact Straight Talk promptly; recovery is not guaranteed by its support guidance.

Verizon says service with the old carrier continues during the switch. You do not need to cancel Straight Talk yourself after the transfer: its service for that number disconnects when the port completes.

- The full name on the Straight Talk account.
- Your Straight Talk account number.
- A one-time Number Transfer PIN generated for the port.
- The billing address associated with the Straight Talk account.
- A separate contact number where Verizon can reach you while the transfer is underway.
Straight Talk identifies the number, name, account number, transfer PIN and billing address as information needed for a port. Verizon asks for the active number, current-carrier account number and transfer PIN, and an alternate contact number. Get the correct PIN
Set up the one-time Number Transfer PIN with Straight Talk before you submit the Verizon request. It authorizes the number transfer and is not necessarily the same as your regular account PIN or account-login password. Use the credential Verizon requests for the port; do not substitute a password or ordinary PIN.

Check whether you can keep your phone
If you want to use your current phone on Verizon, confirm that the model is compatible and that Straight Talk has unlocked it. Verizon also advises having the appropriate Verizon physical SIM or eSIM information available for the device and activation method. There is no single SIM choice that applies to every phone, so confirm what your specific activation requires in Verizon’s device and number-transfer guidance.

- Start Verizon’s bring-your-number or new-line activation flow and check whether your number is eligible to transfer. You can begin from Verizon’s transfer-number page.
- When prompted, enter the Straight Talk number, account number and one-time Number Transfer PIN, along with any other requested account details.
- Provide a separate contact number and submit the request. Verizon says the person initiating the transfer must be an authorized account holder.
- Use Verizon’s transfer-status page to check the request after submission.
What to expect while the number is moving
Keep the Straight Talk line active and watch the alternate contact number and Verizon’s status page. Verizon says the old-carrier service continues during the switch. Your Verizon line may be able to make calls before it can receive calls on the transferred number; incoming calls and texts may not work normally until the port finishes.

Straight Talk says its port-in process could take up to seven days. That is its published maximum estimate, not a guarantee that every transfer will take seven days or less. Follow the status shown for your individual request and contact the carriers if it is delayed or rejected.

When Verizon confirms completion, test incoming and outgoing calls and texts using the transferred number. Straight Talk’s terms say service associated with that number deactivates on a successful port-out and unused service days are forfeited. The terms reviewed do not establish whether a particular customer is eligible for any other refund.
If the transfer is delayed or rejected
- Check that the source line is active. A canceled or lapsed number can prevent the port from proceeding; if it has been inactive for more than 30 days, Straight Talk warns that you may lose it.
- Recheck the account details. Confirm the account number, account name and billing address match Straight Talk’s records.
- Confirm you used the port PIN. Request or verify the one-time Number Transfer PIN rather than entering an account PIN or password.
- Make sure the requester is authorized. Verizon requires an authorized account holder to initiate the transfer.
- Check the phone separately. If the number transfers but the phone does not connect to Verizon, verify the device is unlocked and compatible and that you have the correct physical SIM or eSIM setup.
- Check Verizon’s request status and contact the carriers. The published guidance does not establish a universal resolution time for a delayed or rejected port, so use the status of your request and the carriers’ support channels.
