How do I move tabs between Chrome windows on Android?
Google’s documented steps are for Android tablets. First, make sure the destination window is open. In the source window, touch and hold the tab, then tap Move group to another window. Choose the destination and tap Move. Although the menu says “Move group,” Google lists this option under its instructions for moving a tab to another window.
- In Chrome, create a destination window if needed: tap More > New window.
- In the source window, touch and hold the tab you want to move. With a mouse or trackpad, right-click the tab instead.
- Tap Move group to another window.
- Select the destination window, then tap Move.
Can I drag a tab to another window instead?
Yes. Touch and hold the tab, then drag it to the destination window. Google says you can drop it on the destination’s tab strip, in its tab switcher, or over the page content. Be careful with the last option: dropping a tab over site content replaces that content with the moved tab.
How do I move a tab group or several tabs?

Move multiple selected tabs
Google says tab selection and bulk actions are available on Android tablets and laptops. Select the tabs, then choose Move tabs to another window from the bulk actions.
What if the destination window is missing?
Open More > Manage windows. Under Active, you can find recently opened windows or create one with New window. Under Inactive, select the window you need and tap Restore. If Chrome cannot restore it because the window limit has been reached, Google advises closing an active window first; its current help page does not state a numeric limit.

An inactive window and a closed window are different. Restoring an inactive window brings it back as a separate window. A tab restored from a closed window opens in the current window, and a window that was actually closed does not appear in the inactive list for restoration.
Can I use a moved tab in split screen?
On an Android tablet, you can open a tab in a new window and drag it to the screen edge to trigger split screen. Google also says that when Chrome is full screen, a newly opened window starts in split screen by default. See Google’s split-view instructions.

Does this work on an Android phone?
Google’s published window-transfer instructions are tablet-specific. If Chrome on your phone does not show Manage windows or the move option, the cited guidance does not document a phone equivalent; do not assume the tablet steps are available on every Android device.
