To move a prerecorded YouTube loop from OBS to a cloud service, upload the video or playlist to a provider that can schedule and play prerecorded streams, connect your YouTube channel, set the stream details and timing, then verify the YouTube destination before ending the OBS feed. OBS remains the sender if you keep using its encoder; a hosted prerecorded workflow replaces OBS for playback and sending, so your computer no longer has to run the loop. Prepare both sides before switching, and do not assume the changeover will be interruption-free.
Choose the workflow that matches what OBS is doing
There are two different ways to run a YouTube stream, and only one moves the loop off your computer:
- Keep OBS as the encoder: OBS continues sending video to YouTube using the server URL and stream key from YouTube Live Control Room. This does not move the stream to the cloud.
- Use a hosted prerecorded-video service: Upload or select the video in the provider’s dashboard, connect the YouTube channel, and schedule the broadcast there. The provider plays and sends the prerecorded content; OBS is no longer involved in that playback workflow.
A hosted prerecorded workflow suits a rendered loop or playlist. If your OBS scene depends on a live camera, real-time overlays, or interactive production, confirm that a provider can reproduce those inputs and transitions before replacing it. The documented hosted workflow below covers prerecorded video, not every possible OBS scene.
Prepare the YouTube channel and the handoff
- Confirm live-stream access. YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of the planned switch. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Check the content rights. Make sure you have permission to broadcast every video and audio track in the loop. YouTube’s encoder guidance says live streams must follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service; see YouTube’s encoder setup help.
- Identify what must carry over. Note the existing stream’s title, description, visibility, thumbnail, and intended start time so you can configure the hosted broadcast consistently.
- Choose a provider and check its limits. Confirm that its feature accepts uploaded prerecorded content, supports the intended duration, and targets YouTube. Also check plan requirements, interruption handling, and how long-running streams are archived.
- Keep the stream key private. Treat it as a credential: someone with the key may be able to send a feed to the encoder endpoint. Do not include it in screenshots, public chat, or shared documentation.
Option 1: Keep sending the loop from OBS
If the goal is to retain OBS as the sender rather than move playback to a hosted service, configure the YouTube broadcast and OBS encoder as follows.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live to create a stream, or use Manage → Schedule Stream for a planned event.
- In OBS streaming settings, select YouTube if it is available. Otherwise, enter the YouTube stream URL as the server and paste the stream key into the key field. YouTube explains that an encoder converts video into a digital format for streaming.
- Start streaming in OBS. For a scheduled event, wait for the preview to appear in Live Control Room, then select Go live when the broadcast is ready.
- To end the stream, stop sending from OBS. YouTube’s instructions also describe ending the scheduled broadcast in Live Control Room.
This workflow does not meet the “computer off” goal: OBS must keep sending the feed. YouTube’s connection setup is described in its encoder help.
Option 2: Move a prerecorded loop to a cloud service
For OneStream Live, its help documentation describes creating a 24-hour stream, adding videos from a device, its library, or cloud storage such as Google Drive or Dropbox, selecting the YouTube channel, entering stream details, setting a start time and duration, and scheduling the broadcast. Its documented 24/7 feature is YouTube-only, requires Enterprise, and allows a maximum duration of 30 days; the limit is stated in the OneStream Live 24/7 prerecorded-stream instructions, last updated September 3, 2026. Check the provider’s current plan terms and account-specific limits before choosing it.

- Prepare the media. Use the rendered video or playlist you intend to broadcast. Confirm that it contains only material you have rights to stream.
- Create the hosted stream. In the provider dashboard, choose its prerecorded or 24/7 stream workflow and add the video files from the supported source.
- Set the YouTube destination and details. Select the channel, then configure the title, description, visibility, thumbnail, start time, and duration as available in the provider’s current interface.
- Schedule and verify. Check the selected channel and event details in both the provider dashboard and YouTube Live Control Room. Do not end OBS until the cloud broadcast is configured and you are ready to start the hosted feed.
- Hand off the feed. When ready to switch, stop the old OBS feed and start or allow the scheduled hosted broadcast to begin. This is an operational sequence, not a guarantee of zero downtime; the cited provider instructions do not establish an interruption-free migration procedure.
What to verify before committing to a provider
The provider’s ability to schedule a prerecorded stream is only part of the decision. Ask or check its current documentation for the details that affect a continuous channel:
- Duration and renewal: Is there a maximum run length, and what must happen when it ends?
- Recovery: What happens if YouTube drops the feed or the provider has an interruption? The cited OneStream documentation does not establish its full recovery behavior.
- Files and storage: How long are uploaded videos retained, and can you reuse them on another run?
- Archives: YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not promise that one continuous broadcast longer than 12 hours will be archived as one video. Confirm how the provider handles long runs and how YouTube handles any segments; see YouTube’s encoder help.
- Price and plan: OneStream Live’s cited feature requires Enterprise, but the cited help page does not establish a current price. Check the provider’s current price and applicable limits directly before subscribing.
Troubleshoot the switch
- The channel cannot start a live stream: Verify the channel and check for a restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours.
- The OBS preview does not appear: Check that OBS is using the correct YouTube stream URL and the stream key for the intended event. Keep the key confidential while correcting it.
- The hosted broadcast targets the wrong event or channel: Recheck the channel selection and broadcast details in the provider dashboard and YouTube Live Control Room before stopping OBS.
- The hosted run ends earlier than expected: Check the selected duration and provider plan limits. For OneStream Live’s documented 24/7 feature, the stated maximum is 30 days.
- A long stream does not appear as one archived video: YouTube’s automatic archive statement covers streams under 12 hours, not a single continuous run longer than that. Check provider and YouTube handling rather than assuming it will produce one complete VOD.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for uploaded videos and playlists: upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for the service details, then start your free first day.
