To mirror your entire Galaxy phone screen, open the Quick Panel, tap Smart View, select your TV, and approve the connection on the phone and TV if prompted. This guide covers whole-screen mirroring; casting a video from a supported app is a separate option.
What you need before you start
- A Galaxy phone and a TV or other receiver that supports the connection method. Smart View is not available on every device, and support varies by model and software.
- The phone and TV connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Samsung also says wireless mirroring requires the TV to support an internet connection.
- Screen mirroring enabled on the TV, with permission to connect if the TV asks.
Samsung US describes Smart View support generally for Galaxy phones and tablets running Android 4.3 or later when the receiving device supports Miracast, but cautions that Smart View is not available on all devices. That description is not a guarantee for every Galaxy phone or TV; check the documentation for your specific models. How to mirror your Galaxy phone screen with Smart View
- Prepare the TV: Turn it on, make sure it is connected to Wi-Fi, and confirm that phone and TV use the same network.
- Open Quick Panel: Swipe down from the top of the phone screen and tap Smart View. If you do not see it, check the available Quick Panel controls; the route and feature availability can vary by software and model.
- Select your TV: Tap the TV in the available-device list. If it does not appear, refresh the list and check the network and TV state.
- Approve the connection: Tap Start now or approve the prompt on the phone, then accept the request on the TV. Enter a PIN if one is shown.
- End mirroring: Open Smart View and disconnect, or use the TV remote to exit mirroring.
Samsung’s UK instructions distinguish phone-display mirroring through Smart View from casting inside a supported app.

Smart View, app casting, and SmartThings: which should you use?

What to do if the TV does not appear or the connection fails
The TV is missing from the device list
- Check that the TV is on and both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Refresh the Smart View device list and try again.
- Confirm the TV supports a compatible wireless mirroring method and that the exact phone model offers Smart View.
The TV asks for permission or rejects the request
Approve the prompt on both devices and follow any PIN instruction. If the TV has connected-device permissions, check that mirroring requests are allowed. Samsung notes that a rejected request can mean mirroring is not possible for that device combination.
The connection still will not start
Restart the phone and TV, then repeat the setup. If Smart View is absent from the phone, verify support for that exact model rather than assuming all Galaxy devices include it.

The phone connects, but one video is black or unavailable
Some video can be blocked even when screen mirroring works. Samsung US says DRM-protected content cannot be mirrored. Try the service’s supported TV app or its in-app casting option if available.

A non-smart TV may need an external receiver or a wired connection. Samsung UK lists a Chromecast device or an HDMI adaptor as possible routes, but does not establish that every phone works with every adapter or receiver. Before buying anything, check the TV’s available inputs, the phone’s port, and whether that phone supports video output over the proposed wired connection. A wireless receiver must also support a method compatible with the phone.
