To make stock photos and video clips feel like part of the same project, choose visually compatible assets first, then correct technical color differences before applying a shared creative look. Compare lighting, framing, composition, color, and mood against a small set of references; editing can refine a match, but it cannot reliably erase every difference in scene or style.
Set a visual target before you search
Collect a few representative images that show the look you want. Adobe Stock’s contributor guidance recommends mood boards and reference images to clarify scenarios, subject mood, lighting, poses, angles, and composition. Use those references to make a short checklist rather than relying on a vague description such as “cinematic” or “bright.” Adobe Stock’s creative brief guidance explains how references can help define a visual direction.

Note the traits that matter for your project: warm or cool balance, contrast, light direction and softness, saturation, framing, and overall mood. You do not need every asset to be identical. The goal is to make them feel intentional together.

Choose assets that already look compatible
Before downloading or editing, compare candidates side by side. Prioritize similarities that are difficult to change later, such as the apparent lighting environment, camera angle, framing, subject presentation, and background. Then compare dominant colors, contrast, and mood. Adobe’s guidance supports using references for lighting, poses, angles, and composition; the comparison checklist below applies those ideas to selecting both photos and clips.

| What to compare | Look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Lighting | Direction, softness, and whether the scene appears to share a similar time or environment | Hard sunlight and soft window light can feel like different worlds, even after color correction. |
| Framing and composition | Distance, camera angle, subject position, and background | Consistent visual weight and perspective help separate assets sit naturally together. |
| Color | White balance, dominant palette, saturation, and contrast | These differences are often correctable, but extreme mismatches can take more work. |
| Mood and subject treatment | Expressions, activity, styling, and intended tone | A technically matched image can still feel out of place if the subject or emotion conflicts with the project. |
| Editability | Whether the candidates can plausibly be brought closer without damaging their appearance | Some differences are easier to correct than others; selection reduces the amount of repair needed. |
Do not expect grading to fix every mismatch in time of day, hard versus soft light, camera angle, background, or subject presentation. A compatible shortlist usually produces a more natural result with less correction.
For a sequence or campaign, keep candidates organized by style, theme, or subject. Adobe Stock’s contributor guide recommends grouping variants this way and allows contributors to submit up to three color, style, and composition variations of the same image. That limit applies to contributor submissions, not to buyers or other stock libraries. See Adobe Stock’s guidance on similar-content submissions.

Correct technical differences before styling
Start by bringing each asset toward a plausible, neutral baseline. Correct white balance and unwanted color casts first, then bring exposure and contrast into a compatible range. In Premiere Pro, Lumetri Color’s Basic Correction controls include temperature, tint, saturation, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites, and blacks. Adobe’s color workflows guide covers the correction and grading workflow, and its color correction and grading guide describes the controls.
Once the shots are technically closer, shape the creative look: for example, a warmer palette or softer contrast. Applying a stylized grade before fixing major exposure or white-balance differences can make those mismatches more obvious rather than less.

Match video clips in Premiere Pro
Premiere Pro’s Color Match can use a reference frame to guide adjustments between video clips. Adobe’s January 5, 2026 tutorial describes this sequence:
- Select the clip you want to adjust.
- Open the Lumetri Color panel and go to Color Wheels & Match.
- Choose Comparison View.
- Select a reference frame that represents the look you want.
- Apply Match, then inspect the corrected clip and refine it if needed.
Adobe says this can help match clips recorded with different cameras or lighting. Treat the result as assistance, not a guarantee of an identical appearance: review skin tones, highlights, shadows, and the surrounding shots. The exact controls and workflow are shown in Adobe’s Premiere Pro Color Match tutorial.

Apply the shared look and review the sequence
An adjustment layer can carry a consistent grade across multiple clips, so you can change a shared look in one place instead of repeating the same creative treatment on every shot. Adobe’s travel-video tutorial also points to Premiere Pro’s LUT library as a quicker starting point. A LUT is not a substitute for correcting individual clips: adjust the result to suit the footage, then review the sequence. See Adobe’s travel-video grading tutorial.
