Inviting someone is a separate step: use Add Guest, then move a guest from the queue to the live canvas with Show on stream. Joining the studio alone does not put a guest on stream, and their microphone is not heard until you show them on stream.
What guest settings control—and what they do not
Talk Studio separates participant presentation from admitting a guest to the live canvas. Settings changes affect how participants or their status appear; the Add Guest workflow creates an invitation and places someone in the queue. The host still has to choose Show on stream to bring a queued guest into the editor.

|---|---|---|
| Displayed name and avatar | Your identity in the studio | Used to identify the participant |
| Name tags and name position | Whether participant names are shown and where they appear; the documented position is the bottom | On-screen presentation |
| Audio Status | Shows participant audio status, such as muted | Participant status cue |
| Audio Warning | Detects when someone speaks while their microphone is muted | Audio-related warning for the participant |
| Text-to-speech (TTS) on join | Announces when a guest joins | Audible announcement |
| Speaker Indicators | Indicates who is speaking | Participant cue |
| Connection-quality indicators | Shows connection quality | Streamlabs describes these as visible to guests, not viewers or followers |
| Show screen share to self | Whether you see your own screen share | Self-view; disabling it can avoid a recursive mirror effect |
| Rounded video corners | Changes the appearance of participant video feeds | Visual presentation |
| Add Guest and Show on stream | Invites someone, queues them, and then moves them into the editor | Changes who is actually on the live canvas; a queued guest’s microphone is not heard until they are shown on stream |

Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Change your name, avatar, and participant appearance
- Open the Talk Studio studio and choose Settings, or use Shift+G.
- Update your displayed name and avatar in the identity controls.
- Choose whether to show participant name tags and set their position. The documented position option is at the bottom.
- Turn rounded video corners on or off to suit the layout you want.
- Review the result in the studio before going live so names and video feeds remain readable in your chosen composition.
These are presentation settings, not guest-admission controls. Changing a name tag or corner style does not move a guest from the queue onto the live canvas.

Set audio status cues and join announcements
- In Settings, review the audio-status options.
- Enable Audio Status if you want participant mute status indicated.
- Enable Audio Warning if you want a warning when someone speaks while muted.
- Turn on TTS on join if you want an audible announcement when a guest arrives.
- Use Speaker Indicators if you want the studio to indicate who is speaking.
These cues help people notice mute or speaker activity; they do not replace checking the guest’s selected microphone or deciding when to put that guest on stream.
Invite a guest and bring them on stream
- Choose Add Guest in the studio.
- Copy the invitation link or send it by email, then share the guest instructions.
- Unless Permanent Link is enabled, the invitation link changes for each invitation. Use the link generated for the invitation you are sending.
- After the guest joins, find them in the queue.
- Select Show on stream to move the guest into the editor and onto the live canvas.
A guest can be connected to the studio and waiting in the queue without appearing on stream. Their microphone is not heard on stream until you select Show on stream. This gives the host a chance to check the guest and timing before bringing them into the live program.

What guests should check before joining
The guest onboarding flow asks for a display name, speaker option, microphone, and camera. The guest needs to allow the browser to use the camera and microphone; if either permission is denied, that feed may be unavailable or show an error.
- Streamlabs recommends Chrome for guests on PC, Mac, and Android, and Safari on iOS.
- When prompted, allow camera and microphone access in the browser and select the intended devices.
- Check that the microphone is not muted and that the correct speaker output is selected.
- If the guest intends to share their screen on a Mac, grant the browser Screen Recording access before joining when possible.
Prepare screen sharing on macOS
- On the Mac, open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording.
- Allow the browser the guest will use to record the screen.
- If macOS or the browser asks you to relaunch, quit and reopen the browser before the session.
- Return to Talk Studio and try screen sharing again.
macOS screen-recording permission is separate from camera and microphone permission. A guest who has allowed the camera may still need to grant Screen Recording access to share their screen.

Troubleshoot common guest problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The guest joined, but is not visible on stream | They are still in the queue rather than on the live canvas | Select Show on stream for that guest. |
| The guest is on stream but their microphone is not heard | The guest has not been moved to Show on stream, the wrong microphone is selected, access was denied, or the mic is muted | First confirm they are shown on stream. Then check their microphone selection, browser permission, and mute state. |
| Camera or microphone feed is unavailable or errors | The browser lacks device permission or the guest selected an unavailable device | Allow camera and microphone access in the browser, then check the selected devices in guest onboarding. |
| Guest cannot share a Mac screen | The browser has not been granted macOS Screen Recording permission, or needs a relaunch | Use System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording, allow the browser, relaunch if prompted, and try again. |
| A shared screen shows a recursive “hall of mirrors” | The host is viewing their own screen share | Disable Show screen share to self. |
| An invitation link does not behave as expected | A new invitation may have generated a different link because Permanent Link is off | Send the link generated for the current invitation, or enable Permanent Link if you intend to reuse a permanent link. |
Check participant capacity in your current plan
Streamlabs’ capacity figures use different definitions and do not reconcile cleanly. Its article “It’s Live! 25 Participant Support,” last updated September 17, 2025, gives Standard as up to 6 total participants and Pro as up to 16 on screen and 25 total. A getting-started page last updated October 1, 2025, instead says Standard supports up to 5 guests and Pro up to 11 guests. Because “guests,” “total participants,” and “on screen” are not interchangeable counts, do not use these figures as a single combined limit. If capacity matters for your session, confirm the current allowance shown inside Talk Studio for your plan.

Talk Studio guest settings are for bringing people into a live studio; they are not the same workflow as continuously looping uploaded video on YouTube. For that separate use case, StreamNeo runs an uploaded recording or playlist from the cloud: upload a video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; a slot streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream; and the first day is free with no card. The Monthly price is $9.99 per month. Start the free first day with StreamNeo.
