For the biggest immediate reduction in battery drain, turn on Battery Saver: swipe down on the watch, open Settings > Battery, then switch on Battery Saver. For everyday use, Google recommends adjusting display settings, using Bedtime mode overnight, and reducing cellular use on LTE models. The right combination depends on your Pixel Watch generation, settings, workload, environment, and mobile signal.
Settings to change first
Use Battery Saver when you need to stretch a charge
On the watch, swipe down, tap Settings > Battery, and turn on Battery Saver. Google says it turns on automatically at 15% battery. It disables Always-on Display and limits background activity; notifications may be delayed. Tilt-to-wake remains enabled. Google says key health and fitness tracking and safety features can continue to work.

Reduce unnecessary screen activity
- Turn off Always-on Display: open Settings > Display and switch off Always-on Display.
- Shorten Screen timeout: open Settings > Display > Screen timeout and choose a shorter interval.
- Disable Tilt-to-wake if the screen wakes accidentally: open Settings > Gestures and turn off Tilt-to-wake. The screen will no longer wake just because you tilt your wrist.
Google recommends these display adjustments to help extend battery life, but does not assign a specific number of extra hours to any single setting.

If you wear the watch to track sleep, use Bedtime mode at night. Google recommends it to reduce overnight battery drain and interruptions.

Limit cellular use on LTE watches
If your LTE watch is draining quickly while connected to the mobile network, go to Settings > Connectivity > Mobile and set Mobile mode to Automatic or Off. Automatic uses cellular only when Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is unavailable. Off disables the cellular radio; if your phone is offline, some functions, including phone calls, may not work.
Plan around GPS and music during workouts
Continuous GPS use is estimated by Google at 8–10 hours of battery life. Streaming music drains the battery faster; downloading music to the watch is the alternative Google points to. Battery Saver can support GPS workouts without music under Google’s stated conditions. These estimates are not a guarantee for every workout or watch.

Let your phone help with location
When Bluetooth is enabled and your paired phone is in range, the watch can primarily use the phone’s location services. Apps may still request location from the watch itself. Google recommends enabling Google Location Accuracy for power-efficient location information. Its guidance does not quantify how much battery this can save.
Check the expected battery life for your model
Google’s published figures below are maximum estimates, not a promise of individual runtime. Google says its estimates are based on testing in California in 2026 using pre-production hardware and software, default settings, and a median Pixel user battery-usage profile; actual battery life may be lower. Runtime also varies with enabled features, use, environment, mobile network, and signal strength.

For a specific watch, compare like with like: generation and case size, Always-on Display state, Battery Saver state, LTE use and signal, and workload—especially GPS tracking and music.
