It should also work when you open, edit and present it from the Android Slides app, and it should survive a bad Wi-Fi connection. Google publishes no Pixel-specific font size, safe area or layout preset, so the design advice below is practical guidance, not a Google specification. The app features and presenting routes, however, are documented by Google.
Design slides for a small screen
Google’s Android app lets you pinch to zoom on a slide, but your deck shouldn’t depend on it. Use these rules as a starting point, then check them on your own phone.

- One point per slide. Cut each slide to the single idea it has to carry.
- Large, high-contrast text. Pick type you can read at arm’s length without zooming, and keep strong contrast between text and background.
- Avoid dense tables and tiny labels. Split a big table across slides, or turn it into a chart with a few labelled values.
- Keep layouts simple. A headline plus one image or short list holds up better on small and large displays alike.
Treat these as editorial rules of thumb. The best test is to open the deck on the Pixel you’ll use and see what you can read.

Preview and edit in the Android Slides app
Open the deck in Google Slides for Android. You can scroll through slides, zoom, enter edit mode on a slide, and view or add comments. The app edits text, shapes and lines, and it can create, view and edit PowerPoint files as well as native Slides files.
#1 Best Overall
- Attention-grabbing design meets the latest evolution of the Google Pixel Camera on the new Google Pixel 11 Pro; Gemini Intelligence helps manage details so you can live in the moment[1]; and the phone is available in two sizes
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[2]
- Stay informed without looking at your screen: When your phone is face down, Pixel HiLight gently alerts you with subtle glowing lights when your favorite contacts are calling or you’re talking with Gemini; exclusive to Google Pixel 11 Pro phones
- Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment
- Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]
For precise scrolling and clicking, Google says you can connect a mouse to your Android device while using the Slides app. This is optional. If you plan to use one, check that it is compatible with your Pixel model.
Add media and check it on the device
The Android app can insert photos, videos, audio, GIFs and stickers. One limit matters: image placeholders have to be inserted on a computer, so build any placeholder-based layouts before you move to your phone.
Rank #2
- Google Pixel 10a is a durable, everyday phone with more[1]; snap brilliant photography on a simple, powerful camera, get 30+ hours out of a full charge[2], and do more with helpful AI like Gemini[3]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan; it works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Pixel 10a is sleek and durable, with a super smooth finish, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 7i display, and IP68 water and dust protection[4]
- The Actua display with 3,000-nit peak brightness shows up clear as day, even in direct sunlight[5]
- Plan, create, and get more done with help from Gemini, your built-in AI assistant[3]; have it screen spam calls while you focus[6]; chat with Gemini to brainstorm your meal plan[7], or bring your ideas to life with Nano Banana[8]
Google’s help page confirms that you can insert these media types, but it doesn’t say how every file or display will render. Play through the deck on the phone, and again on the actual screen you’ll present on, before the day.
Recommended Free Tools
Make the deck available offline
- Open the Slides app while you have a reliable connection.
- Find the presentation and tap its More menu.
- Select Make available offline.
- Open Menu → Offline and confirm the deck is listed.
Google also documents a setting to make recent files available offline automatically. Even so, mark the important deck yourself and confirm it appears in the Offline section.
Choose how you’ll present
| Route | How to start it | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| On the phone | Open the deck, then Present → Present on this device | No external display |
| Chromecast | Open the deck, then tap Cast | Pixel and Chromecast on the same Wi-Fi network. Casting does not work in Chromecast guest mode. |
| Google Meet | Present to a Meet call from the app | A Meet call to present into |
Before presenting, test the room display, the network and the audio path. Also decide whether the audience needs the file itself or only a live view. If they need the file, share it instead of only presenting it. As owner you can give people viewer, commenter or editor access.

- Import: PPT, PPTX and ODP.
- Export: PPTX, PDF, TXT and ODP.
- Single slide: the current slide can be exported as JPEG, PNG or SVG.
Google doesn’t promise that every element keeps identical formatting through conversion. If you bring in a PowerPoint file, flip through it on the phone and fix anything that shifted. A PDF export is a handy fallback for a fixed, read-only copy.
