Choose the right way to handle the banner or ad

Check Visualping’s automatic blocking setting
Open the job’s settings and find Block ads, cookie banners under Adjustments. Visualping’s Help Center says the setting is enabled by default for new jobs; that statement does not establish that it is enabled on every existing job or that every banner type will be caught. If the setting is off, enable it and review the preview. Visualping advises adding a manual Block action when a banner or ad is not automatically blocked. Add a Block action for a specific element
- Open the job’s Actions settings and add a Block action.
- Select the ad or banner in the preview.
- If the selector tool misses it or selects the wrong object, inspect the page and use a specific element ID, class, or XPath instead.
- Save the action and inspect the resulting preview to confirm the target is hidden without removing content you need.
Visualping’s Actions guide says a matching ID or class can block multiple elements, so avoid a broad selector unless hiding every match is intentional. A unique, stable selector is less likely to hide unrelated page content. Visualping Help Center: Actions.
Narrow the monitored area when ads are irrelevant
If an ad, carousel, social feed, or popup sits outside the content you want to watch, change the Focus Area rather than trying to remove the element. In Element mode, select a box around the relevant content. Changes outside that selected region are excluded from monitoring, so use this only when you are comfortable not tracking the rest of the page. Visualping Help Center: Focus Area.

Dismiss an overlay that hides the content
When the page content is behind a consent dialog, use a Click action or record an interaction that presses the consent or close button before the screenshot. Visualping’s Record Action feature replays the recorded sequence on each check and requires its Chrome extension. Review the preview after saving: if the click no longer targets the right control, edit the step or select the control more directly. Visualping Help Center: Actions.
If the click reveals content asynchronously, add a Wait action after it so the page has time to update. Actions run in order on each check, so place the wait after the interaction that triggers the change. The Actions guide also covers iFrame actions: if the target is inside an iframe, add the iFrame action before operating on the inner element.

Filter noisy alerts without confusing that with hiding
If the screenshot itself looks right but notifications still react to rotating ads or consent-related changes, adjust the important-change criteria or add a clear instruction such as: “Ignore cookie banners, consent modals, rotating ads, and promotional overlays.” Treat this as guidance for classifying alerts, not as a guarantee that the banner disappears from the captured image. Troubleshoot a banner or ad that remains
- The automatic setting has no effect: Confirm it is enabled in the job’s Adjustments, check the preview, then add a manual Block action for the specific element.
- The selection tool picks the wrong thing: Inspect the page and try a unique ID, class, or XPath. Recheck the preview, since IDs or classes may match multiple elements.
- The click misses the consent control: Edit the recorded step or choose a more direct selector. If the page layout changed, the old interaction may no longer point to the button.
- The page has not updated after a click: Add a Wait action after the click and review the resulting preview.
- The element is inside an iframe: Add the iFrame action before interacting with the inner element.
- Useful content disappears with the ad: Narrow the Block selector or Focus Area; do not block a container that also holds content you need to monitor.
- Alerts continue although the screenshot is clean: Review important-change criteria or add an explicit ignore instruction. Alert filtering and removing an element from the image are separate tasks.
API considerations
Visualping’s cited API materials describe monitor operations and selector or XPath targets, but they do not establish that every dashboard setting, including each Block action or alert filter, is configurable through the API. Check the documentation for the specific endpoint and action you plan to use before building an API workflow; do not assume dashboard and API feature parity. Visualping Help Center: API.

Does Visualping’s automatic blocking remove every cookie banner?
No. Visualping says automatic blocking is enabled by default for new jobs, but a particular banner can remain; use a manual Block action or a click if needed.
Will Focus Area hide an ad from the screenshot?
Focus Area limits the region Visualping monitors. It excludes changes outside the selected area from monitoring; it is not the same as a Block action that hides an element.

Can I configure every dashboard blocking option through Visualping’s API?
The cited API materials do not establish support for every dashboard-level setting. Verify support for the specific endpoint and action in Visualping’s API documentation.
