Choose the Windows 11 control that matches what you want to resize: Settings > Accessibility > Text size changes text; Settings > System > Display > Scale changes apps, images, and other screen content; and the desktop’s View menu changes desktop icons. For temporary zoom, use Magnifier.
Change text size without enlarging apps or images
Use this when menus, title bars, or text beneath icons are hard to read but the rest of the screen is already a comfortable size. - Open Settings > Accessibility > Text size. Or press Windows logo key + U to open Accessibility.
- Move the Text size slider to the right to enlarge text, or toward the smaller end to reduce it. Check the sample text as you adjust it.
- Select Apply.
This setting targets text. To enlarge apps and images as well, use Display Scale instead.
Scale apps and other screen content

- Open Settings > System > Display. Press Windows logo key + I to open Settings if needed.
- If you have more than one display, select the display you want to change.
- Scroll to Scale & layout.
- Open Scale and choose an option. Start with the option marked Recommended, which Microsoft says is typically best for that display.
Most scaling changes apply immediately. Microsoft notes that some apps may require you to sign out and back in before the change takes effect: “You may need to sign out and back in again for some of the changes to take effect on certain apps, but it applies to most things immediately.” Microsoft Support: Make text and apps bigger
Resize desktop icons only
The desktop has its own icon-size controls, separate from system-wide display scaling. To choose a preset, right-click an empty area of the desktop, select View, then choose Large icons, Medium icons, or Small icons. Zoom in temporarily with Magnifier
If you only need a closer look for a short time, use Magnifier rather than changing persistent text or display settings. Press Windows logo key + Plus (+) to turn it on; press Windows logo key + Esc to close it. Magnifier can enlarge part or all of the screen. When to consider custom scaling
If the standard Scale choices do not suit your needs, Windows offers a custom scale entry from 100% to 500%. Microsoft advises against custom scaling, so treat it as an advanced fallback rather than the first choice. Microsoft Support: Make Windows easier to see

Find a setting when the menus look different
Windows Settings has a search field for locating settings. Press Ctrl + E to move focus to Settings search, then search for the setting you need. Microsoft Support: Understand and explore Windows Settings
