YouTube’s viewer-side Loop control repeats ordinary playback; it does not create a live feed. A seamless repeat depends on both your file and your chosen tool, so test the transition in a private or unlisted stream before going public.
What “without a gap” means on YouTube Live
A YouTube Live broadcast receives a video feed from an encoder. The encoder can be software or standalone hardware; YouTube’s encoder guide describes its role this way: “An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube.” You configure the encoder with the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains that workflow.

Looping is handled by the tool sending the feed, not by the YouTube watch-page control. YouTube’s player Loop help covers repeating an ordinary video or playlist while watching. It is separate from sending a continuous live feed.
“Without a gap” can mean the broadcast stays connected and continues transmitting, or that the demo’s last frame and sound join naturally to its beginning. A connected stream can still have a visible black frame, silence, jump, or pause at the repeat point. YouTube’s documentation does not guarantee that third-party loop transitions will be gapless, so verify the result with your actual video and playout tool.

Prepare a demo that can repeat cleanly
Check the beginning and end
Watch the final seconds and opening seconds back to back. Look for a fade to black, a long end card, trailing silence, or a change in camera angle or audio level that will feel like a pause or jump when the video restarts. Edit the file’s end and beginning if needed; even a loop-capable encoder cannot make mismatched content feel seamless by itself.
Choose a tool with an explicit loop function
Select software or hardware that specifically supports repeating local prerecorded media or looping a playlist. Do not assume every encoder can do this simply because it can send a live stream. Check the tool’s current documentation for how its repeat setting works, whether it can run unattended for the session length you need, and whether it supports your video’s resolution, frame rate, and the required YouTube ingest workflow.

YouTube names AJA PlayToStream functionality as one way to schedule prerecorded media to YouTube Live without a computer. That reference does not establish that every model or setup offers seamless looping; check the specific product documentation and test its transition.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSet up and test the live feed
- Enable live streaming if necessary. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select a stream. YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until the moment you plan to broadcast.
- Copy the ingest details. In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key and enter them in your encoder’s YouTube or custom ingest settings. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Configure repeat in the playout tool. Add the demo file to the tool’s loop or repeat function, then set the output format and start the encoder. Setting names and controls differ by product; follow that tool’s instructions rather than assuming a universal menu path.
- Inspect the incoming preview. Before making the event public, check the Live Control Room preview for picture and sound. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring quality; its streaming tips cover preparation and monitoring.
- Watch a complete repeat. Keep the test running through at least one full cycle. Confirm the outgoing feed returns from the final frame to the first without an unintended blank frame, silent interval, pause, or content jump. If the transition is rough, revise the media, adjust the playout settings, or choose another tool and test again.
- Start the public event and monitor it. Once the test looks and sounds right, use the same configured source for the public broadcast. Monitor the outgoing feed and YouTube’s stream health while it runs; a successful preview alone does not ensure that a long session will remain healthy.
Settings and operating choices to verify
There is no single loop setting shared across encoders. Before relying on a setup, confirm these details in the selected tool’s documentation and test them in your own stream:

- Repeat behavior: Does repeat restart the file immediately, or insert a transition, slate, or playlist gap?
- Unattended operation: Can the tool keep playing for the intended duration without a computer sleeping, an app closing, or an operator needing to restart playback?
- Output compatibility: Does it support the demo’s resolution and frame rate and a YouTube-compatible ingest configuration? YouTube publishes encoder settings guidance; use it alongside the encoder’s own instructions.
- Monitoring and recovery: Can you see whether playback or the network has failed, and what must be done to resume the feed?
- Content rights: Make sure you have rights to all video, music, graphics, and other material in the demo. A live format does not remove copyright obligations. YouTube’s copyright guidance explains its policies.
What YouTube features do—and do not—do
Loop on the watch page
The YouTube player’s Loop control is for repeating ordinary video or playlist playback for a viewer. It is not a replacement for an encoder configured to send prerecorded media as a live feed.
DVR
DVR lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume during a live stream. It affects how viewers interact with the broadcast; it does not loop the source demo.

Automatic archive after a stream ends
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after they end. This is an archive behavior, not a maximum duration for third-party looping tools or a guarantee that a stream will remain connected. Plan archiving separately from continuous playback.
Troubleshooting a repeat that is not seamless
- The stream is live, but the demo does not restart: The encoder may be sending the file only once. Check that repeat or playlist looping is enabled in the playout tool, not just that the YouTube stream is active.
- There is a black frame or pause at the join: Inspect the media’s last and first frames, and check whether the tool inserts a transition or gap when restarting. Trim or revise the file, adjust the tool’s loop behavior if supported, then test the full transition again.
- The picture repeats but the audio has a break or pop: Listen at the join with headphones. Check for trailing silence, abrupt audio edits, or a playout transition that treats audio and video differently. Correct the source or settings and repeat the test.
- Live Control Room has no incoming preview: Verify that the encoder is running and that the stream URL and key were copied correctly into its settings. Confirm that live streaming is enabled for the channel and inspect the encoder’s connection status.
- The feed stops during a long run: Check whether the computer or application slept or closed, the source stopped, or the network connection failed. YouTube’s setup material does not promise recovery for every encoder or network failure; follow the tool’s recovery instructions and monitor stream health.
- The preview works, but the public transition does not: Confirm that the public event uses the same media, loop configuration, and output settings as the test. Watch the first repeat after going live rather than assuming the test covers a changed setup.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube-only cloud option, StreamNeo plays uploaded videos as a 24/7 YouTube Live stream. Upload the demo, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the cloud handles playback, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. It streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. The repeat point still depends on the media and playback behavior, so test the demo’s join before relying on it. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
