What “tab size” can mean in Chrome
People asking to increase tab size may mean wider individual tabs, a wider tab strip, or larger text in tab labels. Chrome’s desktop help documents resizing the strip when tabs are displayed vertically; it does not document a horizontal per-tab width slider or a control for changing only the tab-label font size.

Make tab titles easier to read with vertical tabs
- In Chrome, open Settings.
- Select Appearance.
- Find Tab position and choose Vertical.
- Resize the tab strip at the side of the browser to give page titles more room.
Vertical tabs show the open pages in a side list, where you can read titles and scroll through tabs. This changes the placement and overall width of the tab strip; it does not set a fixed width for individual horizontal tabs. Google’s desktop tab instructions describe the vertical-tab option and resizing.
Free space in a crowded horizontal tab strip
Tab groups can organize related pages and reduce clutter when collapsed. To create one, right-click a tab and choose Add tab to new group. You can name and color groups, add related tabs, and collapse a group when you do not need its tabs in view. This manages the strip rather than making each tab wider. What the Tab Scrolling flag does
The experimental chrome://flags/#scrollable-tabstrip flag concerns left-right scrolling when the horizontal tab strip is full. Chromium describes it as enabling the strip to scroll left and right when full. It is not a setting for a permanently wider tab, and flags may change or disappear. If you experiment with it, use Chrome’s flags page and do not rely on it as a stable width control. Chromium’s flag descriptions provide the technical context.
Third-party extensions that claim to adjust tab width
The Chrome Web Store listing for Tab Manager v2 describes tab-management features that include adjustable tab width. This is a third-party extension, not a Chrome setting. Review its current listing, permissions, and publisher information before installing it; its features and availability can change.

If you meant larger text, not wider tabs
The documented Chrome controls covered here do not establish a way to change only the font size of tab labels. Browser zoom changes webpage content, not just the text in the tab strip, so it is not a tab-label-only solution.
