For art to look more like framed work than ordinary TV content, use the Frame’s Art Mode, start with a clear image that suits the screen, and fine-tune brightness, color tone and mount style in the room where the TV hangs. The exact controls and image recommendations vary by model and region, so use your TV’s menu labels and model-specific guidance rather than assuming one setting fits every Frame.
1. Switch to Art Mode
Press the remote’s Power button to enter Art Mode, as described in Samsung’s Art Mode support guide. Art Mode provides dedicated display controls for artwork, unlike simply leaving a photo or image on screen as regular TV content.

If the TV turns off or changes its display behavior when you expect art to remain visible, check the Art Mode sleep, motion and night options. Their names and availability vary by model; consult the manual or support page for your exact TV.

Choose a sharp image with enough detail at the size it will be displayed, and consider how its crop and composition work on the TV’s screen. Samsung’s resolution recommendations are model-specific, not one universal minimum for every Frame:

- 2021 LS03A: Samsung recommends 3840 × 2160 or higher for best results when displaying personal photos. Its product page says uploaded photos display at their original resolution. See the 2021 LS03A product information.
- LS03D and certain larger models in Australia: Samsung Australia recommends 1920 × 1080 for LS03D and 3840 × 2160 for models 43 inches and larger. Check the model and regional guidance before applying these figures; see Samsung Australia’s photo-upload guide.
Samsung does not establish one cross-generation file-format, color-management or resolution specification for every Frame. If your model is not covered by those recommendations, look up its support information rather than treating either figure as a universal requirement.
3. Add a personal photo or artwork
Samsung documents two ways to bring personal images to The Frame: SmartThings or USB storage connected to the One Connect Box. Neither method is documented as inherently producing more realistic-looking results; image quality depends on the file and the display settings.

Upload with SmartThings
Use the SmartThings app to select photos and save them to The Frame. On supported setups, the app also provides artistic effects that can make a photo look like a painting or drawing. Samsung advises editing images before importing them because you cannot edit the image itself on the TV. The available app controls can depend on the TV and setup.
Import from USB
Connect a USB drive to the One Connect Box, then select images through My Collection in Art Mode. Follow the steps for your model in Samsung’s Australia upload instructions; menu labels and supported options can differ by TV and region.

Use an Art Store work
You can also select artwork from Samsung’s Art Store. Samsung’s product information says a subscription is required for access to its full selection in some product contexts; availability and terms may vary by region and product. The sources do not establish that Art Store works look inherently more realistic than personal uploads.
4. Tune brightness and color tone in the room
Preview the image with the room lighting you normally use, then adjust Art Mode brightness and color tone until the work sits naturally on the wall. Samsung says Art Mode can adjust these values to ambient lighting. That behavior depends on the sensor and installation environment: Samsung cautions that “The performance of the sensor may vary depending on the TV installation and operating environment.” Keep the front sensor unobstructed and check your model’s menu for available ambient-light controls.

5. Preview mount styles and colors
Try the available mount (matte) styles and colors around the image. A border can help an image read as a framed work, but the best choice depends on the artwork, wall and TV. Samsung notes that mount options may be limited by the image’s aspect ratio or resolution, so preview the options on your model instead of expecting a particular frame effect.

6. Use artistic effects selectively
If SmartThings offers an artistic effect, choose one that suits the photo. Samsung describes effects that can make a photo look like a painting or drawing; it does not say that every effect makes an image more realistic. For a photographic or print-like appearance, compare the unaltered image with any effect in the room before settling on one.
