Create a checklist on a Galaxy phone or tablet

Open Samsung Notes and create a new note. Add a title if it will help you find the list later.

Tap inside the note to show the editing toolbar. Select the Checklist icon to create a checkbox.

Type the first task. Press Enter to start another line with a new checkbox, and continue adding one task per line.

Tap the Back arrow to save the note. When you finish a task, tap its checkbox to mark it complete.
This is the Galaxy workflow demonstrated by Samsung Care. The exact toolbar location may differ across devices and software versions, so look for the Checklist control in the editor rather than expecting it in the same place on every screen.

Use a keyboard or S Pen
A stylus is optional. Samsung’s mobile support guide documents entering note content with either the keyboard or an S Pen. Use the keyboard to type tasks and Enter to add checklist lines; use a compatible S Pen if you prefer handwriting. Samsung’s tutorial demonstrates the S Pen, but does not make it a requirement.

Its cited S Pen material is specifically for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, so check compatibility for your own device before relying on a particular pen.

Create a checklist in Samsung Notes on a PC
On PC, use Samsung Notes’ text mode and choose checklist formatting. Samsung’s PC support guide also identifies numbered-list and bulleted-list formatting in text mode. The PC documentation confirms checklist support, but does not establish that the phone or tablet sequence and toolbar placement are identical; follow the controls shown in your PC editor.
