Keep an AI-generated game private or restricted while it is in development, and invite testers through the platform’s narrowest access option—such as approved accounts, a revocable key, or a private playtest link. Before release, separately review who can play, edit, publish, or copy the game; what your account reveals; and the platform’s rules for AI-generated content. The exact controls depend on where the game is hosted.
Choose the right kind of access
“Private,” “unlisted,” and “link-only” do not mean the same thing across platforms. A private project setting controls access to the project; it does not automatically make your creator profile or account activity private. A link can also be forwarded, so treat a shareable URL as a way to distribute access—not as a guarantee of secrecy.

Set up private testing on your platform
Roblox
Roblox says new games are private by default. Creator Hub distinguishes Private access from Limited audiences and Public availability. Publishing or choosing an audience may involve eligibility requirements, including age-check, account-standing, or content-maturity conditions for certain options. Check the current requirements shown in Creator Hub rather than assuming an audience change makes a game immediately available to everyone you intend to invite. Roblox: Publish experiences and places
Roblox Build documents a private playtest link for up to 10 friends before publication. Playtesters need Roblox accounts and must be at least 9 years old. itch.io offers Draft, Restricted, and Public visibility. Draft is mainly for work in progress, but someone with its secret link may access it, so it is not necessarily owner-only. Restricted is intended for people you approve; you can use download keys and an optional password, and revoke keys. Restricted projects do not appear in itch.io browse, search, or profile listings and are not indexed by external search engines. Public projects can be listed and externally indexed. Invite testers without granting extra control
- Find where the game is hosted. Identify whether access is controlled by the creation tool, a distribution page, or a player-platform account. These can have separate settings.
- Set visibility before inviting anyone. Choose the platform’s private or restricted option and read its description of who qualifies. Do not assume “unlisted,” “draft,” or “link-only” prevents recipients from forwarding access.
- Use the narrowest practical test route. Prefer selected accounts, approved-user access, a revocable key, or a dedicated playtest feature. Share passwords separately when possible. If a platform puts the password in the URL, treat the entire URL as a credential.
- Grant only what testing requires. A tester who only needs to play usually does not need editing, publishing, or editable-copy rights. Review each collaborator role and any separate copy or download setting.
- Inspect the game and its page. Check prompts, dialogue, player-facing chat, names, screenshots, descriptions, and metadata for personal details or material you do not want exposed.
- End access when the test ends. Remove testers or revoke keys where supported. If the platform allows it, check the project as a logged-out or uninvited viewer to confirm the access boundary you intended.
Keep profile privacy separate from game privacy
Google Play Games profile visibility and a game project’s visibility are separate controls. Google also lets users manage whether games can access their gaming community list across all games or on a per-game basis. When access is granted, the game receives the gamer names of mutual followers—not their email addresses—and Google sets limits on purpose, retention, and onward sharing. Review AI-generated content before release
Privacy controls do not replace content review. Roblox says creators remain responsible for content delivered through third-party tools, including AI-generated content. It also requires disclosure in certain games where players interact with a generative model. Follow the current rules for the game’s format and audience. Roblox: Experience guidelines

Google Play policy likewise makes developers responsible for prohibited or harmful AI-generated content and applies its user-generated-content rules to apps that host AI-generated content. A game’s audience setting does not determine whether the creator’s content may be shared for AI training. Roblox documents a separate choice for sharing eligible published games and assets. Before making the game public
- Confirm the audience and eligibility shown in the platform dashboard.
- Check profile visibility and account data-access settings separately from project visibility.
- Review who can play, edit, publish, download, or make an editable copy.
- Remove temporary testers and revoke keys or other access that is no longer needed.
- Review the game page and generated content for private information, harmful outputs, and required disclosures.
- Check whether a public page will appear in platform search, browse listings, profile pages, or external search indexes.
